Just One More Day

That's it. Summer has come to an end. And just like that school is about to begin -- just one more day. What are we doing today? Getting everything ready to have a successful morning and rest of the week. Brand new clothes gave been washed (don't like kids wearing new clothes without laundering), bookbags are stocked with all the essentials and too much more (why do teachers ask for SO MUCH? wipes, dry erase markers, 12 glue sticks, 3 dozen pencils - are the kids supplying for the whole … [Read more...]

Happy Birthday AND Happy Anniversary!

Yesterday was my son's birthday. We didn't make a big fuss because that's what he wanted. I did make him breakfast though (something I hate doing!) and gave him hugs and kisses. My husband came home to take him for a haircut and spend some quality time with his only son but then had to leave again for duty.  But shhh, don't tell anyone. Well today is another special day. It's my husband's birthday. As much as I want him to have his special day, today also marks a day that means a lot … [Read more...]

I’m a Mom to a 15-Year-old!

So I'm officially a mom of a 15-year old. Well technically it won't be until 10:17 pm. How did that happen? It was just yesterday that I was holding him in my arms at the young age of 21. I was a young mom but I definitely had the motherly instincts when it came to caring for my baby. Maybe it's because I've always loved kids. I remember vividly when I was in third grade, I mentioned to my teacher that I wanted to have my first baby at 21 and I wanted a boy because my family was filled … [Read more...]

Ramblings: Do You Know Who I like More?

That was the question that started a conversation between my six-year-old and I in my bedroom - "Do you know who I like more?" You know the saying, there's always a child a parent "likes" more than the other(s)?  Well, as for me, that's not true. I love/like all my kids the same but differently because that's what they are -- different. Apparently my 6-year-old, my baby -- the one I carried for 9 months, likes one parent more than the other. The reason: I don't give into her requests for … [Read more...]

Bloggers Share Their PERFECT Mother’s Day

Mother's Day, to most moms, is a day to relax and unwind according to the bloggers I "interviewed." It's not a day for extravagant gifts or have brunch or dinner at a fancy restaurant. Most of us moms just want the day off to do absolutely nothing. And there's nothing wrong with wanting a day to ourselves. Moms work hard all year long and on our special day (although Mother's Day should be everyday), we just want to be filled with lots of love, no mommy duties and lots of scrumptious … [Read more...]

Phone Post: How Do You Do It?

As a mom of three, I'm often asked this question; how do you do it? How do you handle three kids? I have one and I go crazy. Please tell me there's a magic way of raising sweet children and having them stay that way. Sorry Charlie, there is no magic way, magic pill or anything that I do to raise my three kids. I just do it. Most days I have no idea how I got here or what I did to have my kid on the honor roll or how my son's favorite vegetable is broccoli (I hate broccoli). My kids are now … [Read more...]

I Think I Got Rid Of The Nasty Little Virus.

That's it. I've had it! I just finished spraying a half-can of Lysol in my whole house while the windows were opened to finally get rid of that nasty little virus that has been ruining our lives for the past 5 days. Just when I thought I was feeling better than BAM - it hit me again.  The way I felt these past several days I would never wish that upon my worse enemy (not saying I do have enemies - don't even know, don't care).  It was the worst feeling ever.  Not being able to care for my … [Read more...]

Ramblings: Never Mess with a Woman’s Cooking!

When my husband and I first moved in together I didn't really know much about cooking.  I mean, I watched my grandparents and mom cook all these delectable and traditional Puerto Rican dishes so it wasn't like I didn't know how to cook,  I just never really actually prepared a meal before. Before I cooked my very first meal, I did what any smart person would do.  I called my mom. Me: Ma, what is your secret?  What makes your food taste so good?  (It's not cheating if you ask your mom right? … [Read more...]

You Ran Out Of K-Cups? No Problem!

How many times have this happened to you? You wake up craving (and desperately needing) a cup of good strong coffee and you look in the cupboards and there's nothing.  You go crazy looking for the canister or in my case, K-cups and still, can't find one. The inevitable happened -- you ran out of K-cups. This has happened to me numerous times. I like to blame "Momnesia" as my friend Divina from Dancinghotdogs.com says.  It's amnesia - mommy-style. You forget everything because your … [Read more...]

Ramblings: I Threw My Kids Out on My Birthday

You may think I'm the worst mom in the whole wide world but after you read this, you'll (hopefully) understand. Yesterday was my birthday and my husband took the day off to spend my birthday with me. We didn't plan anything special -- just breakfast at the local diner or lunch at Red Robin. We agreed that we'll go with the flow. The night before, he said that he'd take care of the kids in the morning so I could sleep in and I immediately had a grin from ear to ear. I don't know about … [Read more...]
