During the day I work at a nearby school where I am a Teacher Assistant.  I've always loved working with kids so my job brings me a lot of joy.  It can be stressful at times but it's also rewarding and has its perks. Like Christmas vacation, holidays off, Spring Break and snow days! Living in New York, we see lots of snow during this time of year.  The school … [Read more...]

October is National Bullying Prevention Month #StreamTeam

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Netflix as a part of my participation on the Netflix Stream Team.  All opinions are always my own.  Last month, (October) was National Bullying Prevention Month but if you ask me, every day should be all about preventing bullying.  It's something that is serious and sadly sometimes fatal.  I shared a personal story about my son when he was in summer camp about being bullied and it was horrible. He was not happy. His attitude changed.  He started teasing … [Read more...]

Today Was An Unexpected “Take Your Daughter To Work Day”

And not by choice! This morning I was shocked to hear my little one had a half day of school. Usually when she has half days, I makes plans with her sitter or my husband. But being that my husband's unit was deployed to help with the disaster that Hurricane Sandy left behind, I was left to my own devices. With him not being home for a whole 18 days has really taken a toll on me. I'm usually on top of things and know when my kids are off or have half days but not recently. "What to do, … [Read more...]

Back To A Routine

Things haven't been so easy here ever since school started. Slowly but surely we are going back to a routine that works and makes everyone happy. I'm getting a good night's sleep thanks to a great new mattress but when my kids get home from school, it's pure mayhem.  I'm frazzled and got a million things on my mind and I just can't figure it … [Read more...]

This is crazy!

Yesterday when I was reading the newspaper, something I read really shocked me. It said a student from the school district my children go to had the Swine Flu and has recovered. I said to myself, WHAT?  I couldn't believe my eyes so I read it again because I was completely shocked. Here's the shocker! The thing is we won't know which school this student goes to because they are not releasing the name of the school that he/she attends. Isn't that crazy?! I don't understand this at … [Read more...]
