Today Was An Unexpected “Take Your Daughter To Work Day”

And not by choice!

This morning I was shocked to hear my little one had a half day of school. Usually when she has half days, I makes plans with her sitter or my husband. But being that my husband’s unit was deployed to help with the disaster that Hurricane Sandy left behind, I was left to my own devices.

With him not being home for a whole 18 days has really taken a toll on me. I’m usually on top of things and know when my kids are off or have half days but not recently.

“What to do, what to do” is what I thought when my daughter said she had a half day today. I kinda freaked out. I asked the sitter but she had plans so I didn’t know what to do. I could leave early but since we are one girl short, I would feel bad for leaving. So I took the plunge and asked my manager. Good thing she said it was ok being that my daughter isn’t so little (she’s seven) and could use the desk area where no one would be. My work-day turned out pretty good. My daughter was occupied with the iPad, coloring books and crayons and I was able to do my work.

Today ended up being a great day. It could’ve been better if my hubby were home but he’s not.

I’m hoping for his arrival by Thanksgiving!

Day 18……
