My daughters birthdays are just days apart (11 yr. old is the 7th and 5 yr. old is today) from each other and I’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately. Good thing my 11 year old was ok with not having a party this year (last year she had a huge party) so we are celebrating my 5 year old’s birthday at good ol’ Chuck E Cheese’s with all of her friends from school.
So happy birthday to my big girl and happy birthday to my little girl. Just know that you will always be my babies. ;)
My son is 13 years old today. I can’t believe this.
It’s official.
I’m a mom of a teenager!
I know I’m not that old but I sure do feel old. I was 21 when I had him.
I can still remember the day I found out I was pregnant. I bought a pregnancy test at a pharmacy store on Central Ave. in Yonkers, NY. My boyfriend (my husband now) and I decided to eat lunch at Nathan’s not far away. After we ate, I told him that I wanted to take the test. He wanted me to wait until we got home. But I needed to know because I was feeling too sick.
Lately, I have been totally addicted to Bakerella. She has the most amazing cupcakes, cake pops and goodies you could ever imagine. I wish I was there to taste each and every goodness. So since I can’t be there, I tried to be Ms. Bakerella for several hours and made this:
(Cake Pops)
and this:
(Cupcake Bites)
It took me about 4 hours from start to finish. It wasn’t that difficult to make but since it was my first time making them, it took awhile. It was a lot of work but also a lot of fun. She makes it easy because she has great tutorials. I think I’ll make these again real soon.
I decided to make these scrumptious treats especially for my sister’s 28th birthday yesterday. I wanted to surprise her with these treats. She had planned to take the day off so she can relax but I wanted to cook her dinner, make her cupcakes, make her the cake pops & the cupcake bites and bring it to her for her very special day. At first, I felt like I was imposing her relaxing day but she can relax another day, right? I won’t be able to see her for two weeks because she’ll be away on business.
Anyway, when we got there, she had no idea I was bringing any food or even a cake so she was definitely surprised and happy we were there. Good thing because I thought she would be a little upset being that I didn’t call her to let her know I was “stopping” by.
She was indeed very happy we were there. It was like the “party” came to her. It was my grandmother, my mom, my other two sisters and us (me and my 3 kiddies). We had a blast. Talking, eating, goofing around, surfing the web and eating some more.
Overall, it turned out to be a great day. We all had a wonderful time celebrating my wonderful sister’s birthday. She’s a great person, great friend, and of course the best sister in the world!! I wish I could give her the world because she’s that great!
I had such a nice birthday that it lingered on to the rest of the week. So that is the reason why I haven’t blog since Tuesday (So I thought; look down below this post and you’ll know why). I really had an awesome day, thanks to my husband. He was like my personal shopper/personal bag carrier. It was nice because he hates to shop, especially when it comes to clothes shopping because I am so picky.
First, we went to Best Buy to day dream about the big flat screen LCD TV’s. They are so awesome and we hope to one day own one. I heard that the movies you saw before would be like watching them for the very first time because of the way the picture looks. I can’t wait! I would love to see all the Harry Potter movies on a LCD TV.
Then we headed over to Old Navy to check out the clothes and scarves. We walked out empty-handed because there was nothing I needed or wanted. After that, we walked over to Hallmark to get this. It is so cute!
After being in Hallmark for what it seemed like an hour, we headed over to the food court and had lunch at Wendy’s. I was in the mood for their yummy hot baked potatoes. After we ate, we walked around some more. By this time, I can tell hubby wanted to go home but since it was my birthday, he didn’t complain & didn’t say a word. My birthday is one day he goes shopping with me without any complaints.
The last store we went into was NY & Company. I absolutely love that store. They had major sales plus I had a coupon. If you spend $75, you save $25 and it doubles to $50 if you spend $150 or more. My husband was really happy about that He loves it when I am ready with coupons and I save us a ton of money. When we walked in, I noticed everything was on SALE. I was really excited about that. So I looked and tried on coats, blouses and scarves. Hubby chose most of the items he bought me. He’s got good taste, thank God. I was also on the look out for some jeans but unfortunately they don’t sell jeans during this time; only in the Spring. Weird, uh? Anyway, in the end, hubby saved a little over $200. I got two coats, 3 tops, 2 pairs of socks, a scarf, a pair of sunglasses, a purse and two pairs of earring for a total of……………………………………………….

Today’s my Dad’s birthday. He would’ve been 56 years old. Even though he is not here with me in real life, I feel he is with me in spirits. He died 14 years ago, at the young age of 42, from complications with diabetes - Just a week after we came back from our vacation from Florida. It was a HUGE shocker to the whole family because he looked so healthy. No one knew he was sick.
He was always very thoughtful, lovable and a very caring person. Everyone that knew him, loved him. He was that kind of person. He was a very hard worker too. He always made sure my sister and I had everything we needed and more. He was a Correction Officer in Rikers Island. He was only 3 years from retiring. I still can’t believe it has been 14 years. After all these years, I miss him like crazy. I hate the fact that my kids missed the opportunity of having a terrific grandfather. Since he was a great father, I knew he would’ve been a great grandfather too.
So I’m dedicating this post to my dad. Happy Birthday Papi! We miss you and love you!
