Ramblings of a Mom Surviving Her Crazy Life

New York Chica

Winner! $10 Walmart Gift Card Giveaway {& Some Rambling Too.} 4

Posted on April 19, 2010 by Lisa

Sorry for the delay folks but I was out practically all week preparing for the weekend.  My family got together this past Saturday to celebrate my grandmother’s 74th birthday at her house so I was quite the busy bee.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I truly adore my abuela (grandma). She is the world to me so spending quality time with my grandma and the rest of the family is definitely something I enjoy and will cherish for years to come.  Things like that are priceless – there’s no way you can put a price on family love. I always enjoy her company and she also enjoys everyone being there with her, especially for a special occasion such as her birthday.

FYI: If you still have your grandmother around, pick up the phone and/or visit her and don’t forget to tell her that you love her!!

On Sunday, I took my mom and my five year old to see 101 Dalmatians: The Musical at Madison Square Garden, thanks to Kim at Mominthecity.com.

The show was fantastic. My mom and my daughter had a great time; they loved the show. I just wished we saw more of the cute dalmatians.  All they did was run across the stage every now and then but it wasn’t a big deal. I just have a thing for dalmatians. ;) The kids were phenomal.  They did a great job acting and dancing in sync.  I was very happy to have won the tickets from Kim.

Overall, it was a great weekend.

So with such a full weekend, I can honestly say that I’m officially exhausted! I even forgot to announce the winner of the $10 gift card giveaway, especially after my ramblings of my wonderful abuelita. ;)

But anyway, here it goes…………. Drumroll please!!!!!

Wordless Wednesday: Carlo’s Bake Shop, Iguana’s Cafe & More 4

Posted on April 14, 2010 by Lisa

Last Friday, my sister and I ventured out to Hoboken, N.J. to pick up her birthday cake.  She wanted no other cake but from Carlo’s Bake Shop. After we picked up the cake, we headed out to the city to celebrate her last year being in her twenties at Iguana’s Cafe in New York City with our friends and family.

Below are a few of the MANY photos we took on Friday. Enjoy!

We had a fabulous time with our family and friends.  It was great to end the night with a great piece of cake too. ;)

PS. Don’t we look ready for some Christmas photos? LOL

Wordless Wednesday – Chuck E. Cheese at 10 AM 14

Posted on March 24, 2010 by Lisa

“This is the best day ever, Mom!”

That is what my 5 year old told me right before she met Chuck E. Cheese.  She was so excited to have her 5th birthday at one of her favorite places.  I’ve been hearing a lot about a Chuck E. Cheese party for months now but I was reluctant because the place can get kind of “wacko” with all the kids running around.

Let’s not forget about the parents – who can also get “wild” too. Have you heard about adults fighting at Chuck E. Cheese? I could not believe it either.  You can do a search on Youtube and find quite a few wild cat fights at CEC.  It’s pathetic if you ask me.

But being that we had our party start at 10 am, we had the whole place to ourselves.  About 12:30 pm, we decided we had enough (it was starting to get a bit crowded) and went home.

It was a fantastic day!! I HIGHLY recommend having a party at Chuck E. Cheese at 10 am because you’ll definitely beat the crowd!

Wordless Wednesday – My Two Girls 28

Posted on March 10, 2010 by Lisa

I’ve had a busy week.

My daughters birthdays are just days apart (11 yr. old is the 7th and 5 yr. old is today) from each other and I’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately.  Good thing my 11 year old was ok with not having a party this year (last year she had a huge party) so we are celebrating my 5 year old’s birthday at good ol’ Chuck E Cheese’s with all of her friends from school.

So happy birthday to my big girl and happy birthday to my little girl. Just know that you will always be my babies.  ;)

Mom Of A Teenager 8

Posted on September 01, 2009 by Lisa

My son is 13 years old today. I can’t believe this.

It’s official.

I’m a mom of a teenager!

I know I’m not that old but I sure do feel old.  I was 21 when I had him.

I can still remember the day I found out I was pregnant.  I bought a pregnancy test at a pharmacy store on Central Ave. in Yonkers, NY.  My boyfriend (my husband now) and I decided to eat lunch at Nathan’s not far away.  After we ate, I told him that I wanted to take the test.  He wanted me to wait until we got home.  But  I needed to know because I was feeling too sick.

After I got out of the bathroom, I showed him the pregnancy test. Read the rest of this entry →

Almost WW – Surprise! 4

Posted on April 08, 2009 by Lisa

Lately, I have been totally addicted to Bakerella. She has the most amazing cupcakes, cake pops and goodies you could ever imagine.  I wish I was there to taste each and every goodness. So since I can’t be there, I tried to be Ms. Bakerella for several hours and made this:

(Cake Pops)

(Cake Pops)

and this:

(Cupcake Bites)

(Cupcake Bites)

It took me about 4 hours from start to finish.  It wasn’t that difficult to make but since it was my first time making them, it took awhile.  It was a lot of work but also a lot of fun.  She makes it easy because she has great tutorials.  I think I’ll make these again real soon.

I decided to make these scrumptious treats especially for my sister’s 28th birthday yesterday. I wanted to surprise her with these treats. She had planned to take the day off so she can relax but I wanted to cook her dinner, make her cupcakes, make her the cake pops & the cupcake bites and bring it to her for her very special day.  At first, I felt like I was imposing her relaxing day but she can relax another day, right? I won’t be able to see her for two weeks because she’ll be away on business.

Anyway, when we got there, she had no idea I was bringing any food or even a cake so she was definitely surprised and happy we were there. Good thing because I thought she would be a little upset being that I didn’t call her to let her know I was “stopping” by.

She was indeed very happy we were there.  It was like the “party” came to her.  It was my grandmother, my mom, my other two sisters and us (me and my 3 kiddies).  We had a blast.  Talking, eating, goofing around, surfing the web and eating some more.

Overall, it turned out to be a great day. We all had a wonderful time celebrating my wonderful sister’s birthday.  She’s a great person, great friend, and of course the best sister in the world!! I wish I could give her the world because she’s that great!

Hope you had fun Jess ;) ! Love ya!
