Saying Good-Bye to My Favorite Disney Ornaments — Yes, My Christmas Tree is Still Up!

20130112-105614.jpg

I know what you're thinking, why is my tree still up? Is she crazy? It's the 12th of January. But guess what? Vera from Lady and The Blog has her tree up too. So there! :) I know Christmas came and went over 18 days ago. Usually I like to keep the tree up til' after Three Kings Day even if we even if we don't officially celebrate it. It's something my mom would do when I was a kid. So I figured six days after Three Kings Day isn't too bad. Right? I'll blame work and being … [Read more...]

Parenting Debate: To Dorm or Not To Dorm…

20121013-144347.jpg

That is the question in our household these days. It's left unanswered because we can't agree on the same thing.....yet. Ever since my son's college night at his school, we've been debating whether or not he should dorm in college. My husband and I are on opposite sides of the spectrum and can't seem to come to an agreement. I say he dorms because it would be great for him. It would teach him so much about life. It would also teach him about responsibility and independence, among lots … [Read more...]

Ramblings: An Update on Life…

Coffee

Where do I even start? My mind is going a mile a second and I can't even get my thoughts processed correctly these days.  It's been almost nine months since I started working full time and I've got to be honest, it's been difficult for me.  On top of my thyroid condition (I HATE it!), being anemic and feeling tired all the time - it's hard for me!  It's especially difficult knowing that my kids won't have much of a summer because both parents are working full time, five days a week, to get … [Read more...]

Mom Ramblings: A Poem Only Moms Will Get.

e cards

If you give a mom a muffin…. If you give a mom a muffin, She’ll want a cup of coffee to go with it. She’ll pour herself some. Her 3 year old will spill the coffee. She’ll wipe it up. Wiping the floor, she’ll find dirty socks. She’ll remember she has to do the laundry. When she puts the laundry into the washer, She’ll trip over boots and bump into the freezer. Bumping into the freezer will remind her, She has to plan for supper. She will get out a pound of … [Read more...]

Out of Sight, Out of Mind…

out-of-sight-out-of-mind

You're heard of this saying: out of sight, out of mind -- right? That quote says it all about my blogging life as well as my home life. As you may know, I started working full time three months ago. The first month was extremely hectic for me. I was not used to being in an office for eight hours a day AND not being home when the kids arrived from school. I was exhausted. I got sick for three weeks with bronchitis and a nasty cough that would linger all day long. The laundry accumulated. The … [Read more...]

What Happened To New York Chica?

mom blogger

It's like a ghost town around here these days, right? I assure you, my dear and lovely readers, I have not stopped blogging/writing on New York Chica. I guess you can say my site was on "hiatus." Why? Things have changed dramatically in my personal life within the past three-four weeks. During the second week of October, Green Mountain Coffee flew me and two other bloggers, Kelby and Kristen (Two of the sweetest women bloggers!) to Vermont for two full days of exploring and … [Read more...]

I’m On My Way To Blogalicious!

20111020-172249.jpg

I can't believe it! I'm finally attending my second blog conference, Blogalicious. After two weeks of being extremely busy, even too busy to blog at times, I am looking forward to a full weekend of learning, networking, meeting new friends and seeing some old friends too. Right now, I'm blogging on the Amtrak train enjoying the unexpected FREE wi-fi! When I made reservations a few weeks ago, I saw that the trains with wi-fi were a hundred bucks more so I was a bit disappointed. I'm so happy … [Read more...]

Am I The Only Latina Not Celebrating El Dia De Los Reyes (The Three Kings Day)?

ThreeKingsColor500x300

Brief history on El Dia De Los Reyes (The Three Kings Day): The twelve days of Christmas end with the Feast of Epiphany also called "The Adoration of the Magi" or "The Manifestation of God." Celebrated on January 6, it is known as the day of the Three Kings (or wise men/magi): Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar. According to an old legend based on a Bible story, these three kings saw, on the night when Christ was born, a bright star, followed it to Bethlehem and found there the Christ child … [Read more...]

Ramblings: I Threw My Kids Out on My Birthday

IMG_2039

You may think I'm the worst mom in the whole wide world but after you read this, you'll (hopefully) understand. Yesterday was my birthday and my husband took the day off to spend my birthday with me. We didn't plan anything special -- just breakfast at the local diner or lunch at Red Robin. We agreed that we'll go with the flow. The night before, he said that he'd take care of the kids in the morning so I could sleep in and I immediately had a grin from ear to ear. I don't know about … [Read more...]

Update: Thankful for Disney Social Media Moms Celebration in 2011

thankyou2

(This is an update from this post from last week.) After reading so many heartbreaking posts about not being chosen for the 2011 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration in Disney World and how Disney was not fair with the selection process,  I decided to continue my story. I was already mentally preparing myself for the news that lots of other bloggers were receiving so I decided not to check my emails so obsessively like I've been for the past 24 hours.  Reason being -- I had not … [Read more...]
