Ramblings: My Mommy Guilt Trip Has Hit Once Again

It's hard being a full-time working mom. I've said it before and I'll keep on saying it. Before I took time off when my youngest was born, I worked for about 4 years straight. It wasn't bad at all. I loved it! I started work at 8am and was on my way home by 3pm. It was great! I had time to clean the house a bit and start dinner before my kids got off the bus. Working at a school definitely had its perks. Nowadays, I'm working from 8-5pm, I get home by 5:30-6, start dinner and by the time I'm … [Read more...]

Mom Ramblings: A Poem Only Moms Will Get.

If you give a mom a muffin…. If you give a mom a muffin, She’ll want a cup of coffee to go with it. She’ll pour herself some. Her 3 year old will spill the coffee. She’ll wipe it up. Wiping the floor, she’ll find dirty socks. She’ll remember she has to do the laundry. When she puts the laundry into the washer, She’ll trip over boots and bump into the freezer. Bumping into the freezer will remind her, She has to plan for supper. She will get out a pound of hamburger. She’ll look … [Read more...]

Out of Sight, Out of Mind…

You're heard of this saying: out of sight, out of mind -- right? That quote says it all about my blogging life as well as my home life. As you may know, I started working full time three months ago. The first month was extremely hectic for me. I was not used to being in an office for eight hours a day AND not being home when the kids arrived from school. I was exhausted. I got sick for three weeks with bronchitis and a nasty cough that would linger all day long. The laundry accumulated. The … [Read more...]

Ramblings: Christmas is Less Than A Week Away!

Where has the time gone? I started a full-time job on October 24th and things have gone so fast for me.  Christmas is less than a week away and I'm still not done with shopping. I actually started last week on Amazon.com and bought a few things for my kids but I still would like to get some little things here and there, you know like stocking stuffers. This year, I'm taking it easy.  I'm really just focusing on my kids.  And to be honest, that's the way it should be once you have children … [Read more...]

I’m On My Way To Blogalicious!

I can't believe it! I'm finally attending my second blog conference, Blogalicious. After two weeks of being extremely busy, even too busy to blog at times, I am looking forward to a full weekend of learning, networking, meeting new friends and seeing some old friends too. Right now, I'm blogging on the Amtrak train enjoying the unexpected FREE wi-fi! When I made reservations a few weeks ago, I saw that the trains with wi-fi were a hundred bucks more so I was a bit disappointed. I'm so happy … [Read more...]

How the Monkey Bars Are Making My Daughter Feel Fat…at 6 Years Old!

I don't know what it is in this day and age that more and more little girls everywhere are calling themselves fat. Is it society's fault? Is it the parent's fault? No! Apparently it's the monkey bars fault! Well, in this case. Yesterday my daughter came home from school, gave me her usual daily after-school kiss and hug and asked me a question that I was not prepared for. "Mommy, how do you get skinny fast?" I was dumbfounded. Where did this come from? Did her … [Read more...]

Ramblings: Changes and A Winner!

So New York Chica has been through yet another blog redesign.  As a blogger, I feel a blog should be refreshed at least once a year.  It makes for new content for those days we are having writer's block which happens to me way too often.  But sometimes change is good.  We all  need that extra "oomph" to get our ideas out. Right? So I contacted Jacqui from Wacky Jacqui Designs and told her I was ready for another change (she designed my blog once before) and she was as usual, very helpful … [Read more...]

Ramblings: Do You Know Who I like More?

That was the question that started a conversation between my six-year-old and I in my bedroom - "Do you know who I like more?" You know the saying, there's always a child a parent "likes" more than the other(s)?  Well, as for me, that's not true. I love/like all my kids the same but differently because that's what they are -- different. Apparently my 6-year-old, my baby -- the one I carried for 9 months, likes one parent more than the other. The reason: I don't give into her requests for … [Read more...]

A Short Story: Happy Birthday To My Little Souvenir

Two birthdays this week has got me crazy busy getting things just right for my little girls. After six years, I still can't believe I have 2 kids with birthdays that are only three days apart.  And to think my doctor wanted my little souvenir to be born on March 7th. Was he insane?  We have a daughter who's birthday falls on March 7th so choosing our baby's birthday was not easy. You may be asking why would we choose our daughter's birthday? Well since I had major complications with my first … [Read more...]

Ramblings: Not Me.

There are people who are natural-born teachers, not me. There are people who love exercising, not me. There are people who love iced coffee, not me. There are people who love to speak in front of a crowd, not me. There are people who crave attention - good or bad, not me. There are people who think they're always right (well me too. Lol just kidding), Not me! There are people who put their kids on a pedestal in an annoying way, not me. There are people who will express their … [Read more...]
