Santa Buddies: The Legend Of Santa Paws & Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Choo-Choo Express | Review Comments Off

Posted on December 09, 2009 by Lisa

Every year during the holidays, I like to play Christmas music and watch holiday themed-movies to get into the spirit.  I want to spread the tradition to my children so they are the same way, especially my four year old.  During the past two weeks, she’s seen the same two movies almost daily. I think I know every line and so does she.

santabuddiesThe first one is Santa Buddies.  Both of my daughters really enjoyed this one because they love dogs and of course, Christmas.  It’s about a dog named Puppy Paws who doesn’t believe in Christmas because he forgets the true meaning of Christmas, which is not all gifts and material things.  When something awful happens to one of his puppy friends, he learns that Christmas is truly a blessing and it’s about having your friends near and dear to your heart.

If your child loves the holidays and dogs like my girls do, I’m sure they will enjoy this movie.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last one on the list is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Choo-Choo Express.  MickeyChoChooExpAs I said once before, we are huge Disney fans so this one was a hit.  It’s full of adventures with Mickey and his friends when they ride the amazing Clubhouse Train to the top of the mountain to help load the train with lots of incredible, never-melting, “Easy-Freezy” snow.  Along the way, they pick up their guests to have the best snow party ever.  If your little one is a Disney or Mickey fan, they don’t want to miss this one.
After both movies were seen, both girls wished for snow and a few days later, they got their wish.  Today we got about 5 inches of snow & slush.  They love it but I can’t say the same.  I don’t like the white stuff quite as much as they do.  ;)
***Both movies are available now on DVD & Blu-Ray.
Disclosure: Both movies, Disney’s Santa Buddies: The Legend Of Santa Paws & Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Choo-Choo Express were sent to me by Click Communications to review & to keep.  I did not receive any monetary compensation for the review and all opinions are mine; they were not affected by anyone.
We have been on a Disney movie kick lately.  We all love to watch Disney movies, especially me because there is no doubt there will be anything that is inappropriate for kids.
I’ve got to give it to Disney, they really know how to make movies enjoyable for both the parents and kids.
Here are some movies we’ve seen in the past week: Read the rest of this entry →
Boot Camp | Movie Review 1
Posted on September 02, 2009 by Lisa
My family and I are movie gurus. We watch movies all the time, especially on the weekends.  It’s a great way to spend time with your family and save money too.
bootcampA couple of weeks ago, I received Boot Camp to review so my  husband and I decided to watch it last night. I saw the trailer on Youtube before so I knew I would enjoy this movie, especially since I have a teenager now.
Here’s the summary of the movie below:
A group of troubled teens are sent to a rehabilitation program housed in a remote camp on the island of Fiji. What their parents believe is a state-of-the-art deluxe institution in a beautiful natural environment turns out to be a prison-like boot camp where they are abused and brainwashed.
This movie is great for teenagers that are having a hard time in life and are doing things they really aren’t supposed to do.  This movie not only teaches teens that places other than home are not always better but they also teach kids that life is what you make it.
DVD is available now to buy or rent.
Pete’s Dragon (High-Flying Edition) & Hannah Montana: The Movie | Movie Reviews Comments Off
PETE’S DRAGON
petesdagonGet ready for a magical adventure, filled with friendship, fun and heartwarming songs with the Pete’s Dragon High-Flying Special Edition DVD. This Walt Disney classic family film from 1977 now comes with dazzling new bonus features!
It’s a ”Brazzle Dazzle Day” when an orphan named Pete and his best friend, Elliott – an invisible dragon – wander into the seaside village of Passamaquoddy. Although Pete befriends the lighthouse keeper, Nora (Helen Reddy), and her salty old father (Mickey Rooney), the townspeople think he is behind the hilarious ”accidents” that keep happening. But after a daring rescue, everyone believes in Pete?s fire-breathing buddy.
Featuring an all-star cast (Shelley Winters, Red Buttons, Jim Backus and Jeff Conaway), Pete’s Dragon is a timeless classic every member of your family will love. Plus, the new High-Flying Special Edition includes an all-new behind-the-scenes look at the film’s magical mix of live-action and animation, never-before-heard original demo recordings and much more!
Walt Disney Pictures has done it again.  Remastering an oldie but goodie. Pete’s Dragon is an awesome family movie.  Its filled with music, love and life (not the ideal life).  It’s also a movie I vaguely remember.  I guess it’s because I was only 3 years old when it was first released but the one thing I can’t forget is the bright, green dragon. He was the only one that is in my long-term memory. My husband, on the other hand, was thrilled to know that we received Pete’s Dragon, High-Flying Edition.  He remembers the movie very well and throughout the movie, he was an amusing annoying commentator.  The one part that I didn’t like was that since this movie was remastered, I wish they would’ve done a better job at making the dragon look “real”.  With all the technology that Disney has, I’m sure they could’ve made him look realistic.
Other than that, the movie was very entertaining and my kids loved it.
hannahmontana Get ready to be dazzled by Disney’s big-screen smash hit HannahMontana the Movie, filled with laughs, adventure, family fun and fabulous music! Come along for the ride and see Hannah like never before as she returns to her roots and faces the most important decision of her life! When Miley Stewart (aka pop-star Hannah Montana) gets too caught up in the superstar celebrity lifestyle, her dad decides it’s time for a total change of scenery. But sweet niblets!Miley must trade in all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood for some ol’ blue jeans on the family farm in Tennessee, and question if she can be both Miley Stewart and Hannah Montana. With a little help from her friends and awesome guest stars Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts and Vanessa Williams, will she figure out whether to choose Hannah or Miley? Hannah Montana the Movie is a heartfelt major motion picture perfect for the entire family.
At first, I was reluctant to watch it. After hearing so much negative news about Miley Cyrus, I didn’t want to give this movie my time, you know what I mean? But I knew my girls loved Hannah Montana so I was happy to know I was able to review the movie before the release date.
When the movie first started, I wasn’t into it but as time went by, I noticed I was actually enjoying it. My girls were shocked that I was laughing too.  I couldn’t help it, some parts were so funny and stupid.
Hannah Montana, who is a city girl (Miley Cyrus) is forced to live in the country to find out that the “glamour life” isn’t everything and there’s more to life then just pretty shoes.
If you’ve got little girls and they love Hannah Montana, they’ll love this movie!
Below is a clip of the infamous Hoedown dance. Check it out:
And here’s some bloopers to make you laugh:
How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days Deluxe Edition | Movie Review 1
Posted on August 14, 2009 by Lisa
howtoloseaguyin10daysHow to lose a guy in 10 days Deluxe Edition makes its move onto DVD and Blu-ray in an all-new Deluxe Edition arriving August 18, 2009 from Paramount Home Entertainment. Pairing Matthew McConaughey (Tropic Thunder) and Kate Hudson (You, Me and Dupree) with delightful results, HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS is an uproarious battle of the sexes that appeals to both men and women.  While Andie (Hudson) needs to prove she can dump a guy in 10 days, Ben (McConaughey) is determined to show that he can win a girl in the same amount of time.  The result is a wildly outrageous tale of sex, lies and romantic fireworks.
When I first saw this movie in the theaters, I fell in love with it.  I immediately knew I wanted to get the DVD to watch it all over again. It’s my favorite genre in movies so needless to say, I was very excited to find out that I had an opportunity to review this deluxe edition days before the release date.
I don’t know about you but I think Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey make a great couple.  They have great chemistry that works really well together and they’re also one of my favorite on-screen couples.
In my opinion, How to lose a guy in 10 days is THE perfect romantic comedy.  This movie will definitely put you in a good mood and make you laugh and cry, all at the same time.  Men WILL definitely enjoy this movie too.
If your man says that he’s not into chick flicks, don’t believe him. Every man has a feminine side (trust me!), whether he wants to believe it or not. My husband really enjoyed this movie and I’m happy to say that he showed “his side” very well…..but don’t tell him that I told you ;)
Just in case you were wondering what makes this movie a “Deluxe Edition” (theatrical release was in 2003), it’s because it has the availability to view the movie in True HD, has a very cute cover in hot pink with New York City in the background (which I love) and special features you don’t want to miss .
The features that are included are:
  • How to make a movie in 2 years.
  • Why the sexes battle.
  • Girl’s night out.
  • Commentary by Director Donal Petrie.
  • Music Video – “Somebody Like You” by Keith Urban.
  • Deleted scenes with Director’s Commentary.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to see this movie, click HERE to see the trailer!
Note: Don’t watch this with your kids, especially if they’re 4 years old. Because of their wonderful language (it’s not that bad), my daughter said “Bullshit” a few times. Although she sounded so cute saying it, I had to put on my stern face and tell her that it was a very bad word and to never say it again.  She told me, “OK mommy, I won’t.”
Isn’t she cute?
The Tiger’s Tail | Movie Review 3
Posted on August 11, 2009 by Lisa
tigertail
It’s Movie Tuesday!!!
Last night, my husband and I saw The Tiger’s Tail.  It’s a drama-thriller type movie. It should not be seen with kids because of its rating (R). It truly is an adult movie. There’s no sex (well, one sex scene but no nudity was seen)  or anything provocative, it’s just that they wouldn’t understand and they’ll probably fall asleep anyway.
The movie is based in Dublin, Ireland, starring Kim Cattrall (Jane O’Leary), Brendan Gleeson (Liam O’Leary), Ciaran Hinds (Father Andy) and Sinead Cusack (Oona O’Leary).
At first, the movie was slow and odd.  I thought I was going to fall asleep but then it started getting interesting.  Liam O’Leary (Brendan Gleeson) started seeing himself in different places and he felt as though someone was either playing tricks on him or he was going to die really soon.
I thought he was going to get hit by a car or get robbed. That was the feeling I got in the beginning.  That was not the case. Turns out he was a twin and he didn’t even know it.  Throughout the movie, he’s trying to figure out how this is happening and why.  He goes through so many awful things, you think he gives up.
But not him.  In the end, things turn out a different way.
To find out what happens, buy or rent your copy. DVD releases today, August 11th from MGM Home Entertainment.
The Disappointment Continues. 7
Posted on July 21, 2009 by Lisa
Harry-Potter-and-the-Half-Blood-Prince
It’s just not fair to go through so many disappointments in one week.  It’s not but I guess that’s inevitable.
So, I finally saw Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince last night.  It was OK.  I liked it but…ok, I have to be honest here….I really didn’t like it.  I still feel the need to watch a Harry Potter movie.  This one left me wanting more and I didn’t get that, unfortunately.  It’s sad because my family and I are HUGE fans and the only one that really enjoyed it was my 12 year old son.  I wanted more action, more spells and more action (yes, I know I said that already).
To say the least, it was kind of boring. Oh man, I can’t believe I said a Harry Potter movie was boring! Sorry, but I have to honest.
I did enjoy something.  The ONLY thing I did enjoy was the scenery. Hogwart’s is a very beautiful place.  The whole area is breathtaking and looks very serene.  Sometimes I wish I can go back into time and go to a school like that (as if that even exists, lol).
Hog2warts
As always, I tend to read reviews of movies that I want to see. The reviews were so positive.  So that made us even more excited to see it because they either gave the movie an A or a B.  I really don’t understand what happened to this movie.
Or maybe it’s just us.
We’re the only ones that didn’t really take in the full effect of all the “rage and hormones” between Ron Weasley, Harry Potter and their “little flings”.  Maybe I’m being too opinionated.  All I know is this….I wanted more from this last movie. The Order of The Phoenix was so good and full of action that I automatically thought The Half-Blood Prince would’ve been as good.
I can honestly say that this movie will not be seen as often as the other ones.  I may not even buy the DVD.  Who knows.  It’s hard to say.
I REALLY hope the next one is better than this one.
Anyway, you don’t have to go by my review. This is my opinion. If you’re a Harry Potter fan like me, you may have a different view on this movie.  You might even like it.
So please,  go and see it if it’s on your must-see list and have a good time.
After you see the movie, drop by and let me know what you thought of the movie.  I would love to know what your thoughts are and I also love to read comments :)
