Well folks, it’s that time for families to start on their new ventures now that school is out!

With that in mind, my family and I will be going on a small road trip to Pennsylvania and we’re making two stops along the way: Lancaster & Philadelphia.  I have family in both cities (my Dad is also buried in Lancaster) so it’s mainly to visit family and of course to get away for several days.

Our last stop before heading back to New York will be Washington, D.C.  It will be the first time for everyone in my family to visit D.C. so we’re all super excited!  We have plans to see the White House, visit the Smithsonian, tour the national monuments and memorials (hubby is a military guy) and probably take the Washington Metro (their subway system) to check out the towns.

And if that’s not enough, we’ll be riding in style in the brand new Volkswagen Routan — their new minivan.  The vehicle is stylish, comfortable (from what I heard) extremely spacious AND it has 13 cup holders! That’s insane, huh?. It’s a perfect fit for our family of five.

I can’t wait to receive the vehicle (it’s being sent to us for review purposes only) this Friday.  My kids are hoping they can watch movies and play the Wii in the back seat.

We shall see.

The next few posts will be about our long awaited road trip so you’ll be reading a lot about our adventures and of course viewing pictures about our trip.

A few days ago, @Carogonza (from Twitter) said congratulations on being nominated on Latism.org,  I voted for you so I hope you win. At first I thought, Oh cool, someone added my name to win a cool Latism award.

I had no idea what she was talking about until I saw it myself this morning.  I was nominated for one of the best NY Latino Tweeps.

Can you believe it?

I still can’t believe it. I am in shock because I never even thought I would be nominated for ANYTHING in life!! Sounds crazy, uh?  I know this doesn’t sound like it’s a big deal to others but to me it is.  Never thought this idea would even exist just being a blogger and a Latina.

I’ve always been a proud Latina and so very proud of my heritage but this is the icing on the cake.  There are a lot of Latinos in Twitterville that are (in my opinion) greater than me, especially @Urbanjibaro (George Torres), so being chosen for NY’s Best Latino Tweeps was a total surprise and a huge honor.

George Torres is one of the best Bloggers, Tweeps and everything that involves social media for Latinos and beyond so to be on the same list with him among other great people is just amazing.

There is something wrong with Twitter so I had to remove it from my blog.  Apparently someone hacked into either my blog or my Twitter account.  Whenever I viewed my blog, a pop-up would come out and asked for my Twitter name and password.  If they think I’m gonna do that, they’re crazy.

Also when I try to update, it won’t let me.  Crap! Stupid people!

{Sorry for the rambling}

I am so glad it’s almost Friday.  That means I don’t have to wake up at 5AM for two whole days.  I know I said I’m a SAHM but I’ve been making my husband breakfast every morning to save some money. He was spending way too much money for breakfast in the city.  Almost $10 each day!  That is just crazy.  With the way this economy is going, every penny counts.

Anyway, I wanted to mention I am on Twitter now.  Yay!!  It looks like fun so I said why not.  So if you click on the blue bird on the right, you can start following me.  At the moment, I am only following 6 people but I will continue to add more people.

I also wanted to mention that there are a few giveaways (not mine unfortunately) I would like to tell you about.  The first one is from one of my favorite blogs, Mami’s Time Out.  She is giving away a pair of PZI jeans.  These jeans are HOT and they don’t come cheap either.  They range from $79 and up. These jeans were created for those women that have “alot of junk in their trunk”.  So if you have a hard time finding jeans to fit your womanly curves, these jeans are sure to answer your problem.   I want to give kudos to Jai for this amazing contest.

Another giveaway is from another one of my favorite blogs, Unlikely Housewife.  She is giving away a Sex in the City DVD.  The retail price on the DVD is about $22.99 if you buy it on Amazon.com but you can get it for free if you enter her contest.  I don’t know about you but I could not wait to see the movie.  I wanted so badly to see it on the big screen but that didn’t happen.  But that was ok; I’m a pretty patient girl.  You know, I saw each and every episode at least twice and even though I saw the movie once, I would love to see it again.  I saw it when the DVD came out a few weeks ago and I loved it.  Yes, it is a long movie but I loved every minute of it.  It was full of laughter, fun, sobbing and real life problems too.  I don’t have the DVD so I would LOVE a copy of the movie for my movie collection.  So thanks Elisa for this great contest!
