I remember when I was a little girl, my abuelita (grandmother) would watch her telenovelas (soap operas) for hours at a time in the kitchen while my abuelito watched wrestling in their bedroom. It was their time to unwind alone after dinner. They were both complete opposites when it came to TV shows but were truly meant for each other in many other ways.
I would always love to watch novelas with my abuela because it meant I had her all to myself. Sometimes she would make café con leche and serve it with pound cake on the side while we were watching novelas. My grandmother made sure she was extra comfortable when it was novela time. She had pillows for her bottom and for her back. And I would sit right beside her on a step stool which was extremely uncomfortable but because I was spending time with her, I didn’t care one bit. She was comfortable and content sitting in the kitchen and so was I.
Sometimes I think back and wish I could go back into time to revisit those moments. Those were the best times of my childhood. Boy do I miss those days.
But I’m glad I get to share some news from Verizon.
