31 Days to Build a Better Blog Challenge – Day 1 4
I’ve been blogging off and on since 2006 but I’ve been consistent for the past two years and what a journey it has been. I never thought I would meet other bloggers or even go to events in my favorite city, New York City.
When I first started out, it was meant to be “an online journal.” Something to keep me from going “insane.” Staying home with kids is not an easy thing to do so writing brought me my sanity, so to speak.
I still have my first blog up and running over at Blogspot. If you want to check it out, just click on the link: http://nychicachick.blogspot.com/. Reading some of the posts, I realize that I was much more personal than I am here. Maybe I should start getting personal again with ya’ll
. I’ll see.
Now that I am on another level (reviewing products that companies send to me and attending events in NYC), it’s more like building my own community and joining others through social media such as Twitter & Facebook. It’s a lot of fun meeting my favorite bloggers and learning along the way also. I can say now my life is no longer “boring.”
Ok, time to start that challenge! I’m a day behind so I have to make up for it.
My friend (and savior!) Mariana, invited me to do this challenge. I’ve never done anything like this before so I said, why not. I know I still have lots to learn about blogging even though I’ve been blogging for over 2 years but I’m ready to take this challenge, make some positive changes and learn everything that I can.
Day 1: Write an Elevator Pitch for Your Blog
According to Problogger & Wikipedia, “An elevator pitch is an overview of an idea for a product, service, or project. The name reflects the fact that an elevator pitch can be delivered in the time span of an elevator ride (for example, thirty seconds or 100-150 words).”
This is my tagline for my blog, which is my “short pitch”: New York Chica…ramblings of a mom surviving her crazy life.
What do you think? I would love to know what your suggestions are. I’m thinking of changing things up a bit anyways.
My “long pitch” is what I took from my “about me” page (which I’m going to change b/c I think it needs some updating) – At New York Chica, you will find lots of various topics – From saving money and finding the best deals, to motherhood, marriage, NYC events and almost anything else that is on her mind as well as reviewing products and host giveaways too.
I am hoping that after people read both pitches, they will come and visit everyday
. That would make me a very, very happy blogger!
I’m also hoping to take what I learn on this challenge and be a better blogger and bring you, my readers, what you want to see and read.
Do you want to join in? Come and see Mariana and add your link to her site!
I had a few negative comments (& lost some readers too) about using the word “oriental” so I deleted it from the post, “
