Just One More Day

That's it. Summer has come to an end. And just like that school is about to begin -- just one more day. What are we doing today? Getting everything ready to have a successful morning and rest of the week. Brand new clothes gave been washed (don't like kids wearing new clothes without laundering), bookbags are stocked with all the essentials and too much more (why do teachers ask for SO MUCH? wipes, dry erase markers, 12 glue sticks, 3 dozen pencils - are the kids supplying for the whole … [Read more...]

Happy Birthday AND Happy Anniversary!

Yesterday was my son's birthday. We didn't make a big fuss because that's what he wanted. I did make him breakfast though (something I hate doing!) and gave him hugs and kisses. My husband came home to take him for a haircut and spend some quality time with his only son but then had to leave again for duty.  But shhh, don't tell anyone. Well today is another special day. It's my husband's birthday. As much as I want him to have his special day, today also marks a day that means a lot … [Read more...]

I’m a Mom to a 15-Year-old!

So I'm officially a mom of a 15-year old. Well technically it won't be until 10:17 pm. How did that happen? It was just yesterday that I was holding him in my arms at the young age of 21. I was a young mom but I definitely had the motherly instincts when it came to caring for my baby. Maybe it's because I've always loved kids. I remember vividly when I was in third grade, I mentioned to my teacher that I wanted to have my first baby at 21 and I wanted a boy because my family was filled … [Read more...]

August 18, 1994

August 18, 1994. A day that came too quickly. A day I thought would be nothing special besides my cousin's birthday who lives in Florida. A day I will never forget because it's the day I lost my father.  My dad. My papi. A day that shocked my whole family and all who knew him. A day that will never be forgotten. A day that brings back memories of the day he handed me beneficiary papers just a few months before. A day I often wonder if he knew his "time" was near. A day … [Read more...]

Family Matters…..or does it?

When it comes to family and the bond families have with one another, it's no doubt that you should be able to count on your family when the chips are down, right?  In my heart, family matters. It's the main piece to any puzzle. Unfortunately, that isn't always the case. When I was a kid, I grew up in a tight-knit family. I saw fights, arguments, crying and lots of love in between it all.  No matter the issue, there was a bond that I always saw that was very important. Yes, people gave … [Read more...]

Ramblings: Do You Know Who I like More?

That was the question that started a conversation between my six-year-old and I in my bedroom - "Do you know who I like more?" You know the saying, there's always a child a parent "likes" more than the other(s)?  Well, as for me, that's not true. I love/like all my kids the same but differently because that's what they are -- different. Apparently my 6-year-old, my baby -- the one I carried for 9 months, likes one parent more than the other. The reason: I don't give into her requests for … [Read more...]

Tuesday Thirteen: 13 “More” Things About Me

A few months ago I posted about facts about me so this is kind of a continuation of the first one. Also, if you're a blogger, you may have noticed that I wrote "Tuesday Thirteen." Bloggers know it should be Thursday but I never got to posting this LAST week so enjoy. LOL **************************** 1.  I consider myself a very neutral person, but if you have issues with rules I have for my kids, then I have a problem with that.  My motto is "My kids, my rules." It's nothing against the … [Read more...]

The Joys of Mamihood: Cheesy Feet

Being a mom of three kids, all different ages, the joys of mamihood can become both amusing and stressful.  It's the amusement that all mothers need from time to time to avoid going insane.  It helps get the stress out of the way and lets you live your life.  With amusement comes funny stories too -- only a mother would know. A couple of days ago, I was in my bed with my 6-year-old reading Black Heels to Tractor Wheels--A Love Story By Ree Drummond (Great book!) while my daughter was … [Read more...]

Bloggers Share Their PERFECT Mother’s Day

Mother's Day, to most moms, is a day to relax and unwind according to the bloggers I "interviewed." It's not a day for extravagant gifts or have brunch or dinner at a fancy restaurant. Most of us moms just want the day off to do absolutely nothing. And there's nothing wrong with wanting a day to ourselves. Moms work hard all year long and on our special day (although Mother's Day should be everyday), we just want to be filled with lots of love, no mommy duties and lots of scrumptious … [Read more...]

Phone Post: How Do You Do It?

As a mom of three, I'm often asked this question; how do you do it? How do you handle three kids? I have one and I go crazy. Please tell me there's a magic way of raising sweet children and having them stay that way. Sorry Charlie, there is no magic way, magic pill or anything that I do to raise my three kids. I just do it. Most days I have no idea how I got here or what I did to have my kid on the honor roll or how my son's favorite vegetable is broccoli (I hate broccoli). My kids are now … [Read more...]
