School is in full gear now that we’re heading into the middle of October and lots of big things are happening in the Perez household. My son is a senior in high school (how did that happen?!), my daughter is just starting her high school days as a freshman and my baby is a now a third grader. Every morning marks a brand new day and I express the importance of a … [Read more...]

#Sponsored: How Young is Too Young for a Child to Have a Cell Phone? #SprintLatino

Disclosure: I was compensated to participate in a Sprint Latino research study around Latina Moms and mobile security for their children. All opinions expressed here are 100% my own. When my daughter turned ten, one of the items on her wish list was a cell phone. As a mom of three children, I thought ten was a bit too young for a child to own a cell phone, especially my own daughter. I bought my 16 year old son a cell phone when he was about 14. This request is four years early. At the … [Read more...]

Ramblings: My Mommy Guilt Trip Has Hit Once Again

It's hard being a full-time working mom. I've said it before and I'll keep on saying it. Before I took time off when my youngest was born, I worked for about 4 years straight. It wasn't bad at all. I loved it! I started work at 8am and was on my way home by 3pm. It was great! I had time to clean the house a bit and start dinner before my kids got off the bus. Working at a school definitely had its perks. Nowadays, I'm working from 8-5pm, I get home by 5:30-6, start dinner and by the time I'm … [Read more...]

Here are a few gifts that any coffee … [Read more...]

Let’s Talk About Date Night

Ahhh Date night -- It's a wonderful thing between two people or sometimes more. It's a time where you can just hang out, have a few drinks, eat and relax. It's especially wonderful when you can talk to your spouse without any interruptions from the kids and just talk about ANYTHING on date night. THAT is our dilemma. But isn't that the main reason couples go on date night anyway? To be alone as husband and wife. To listen to each other as a lover and friend? To remind one another that … [Read more...]

My First Pinterest Challenge: A Laundry Closet Makeover

I'll let you in on a secret of mine. I'm addicted to Pinterest.  At first I couldn't understand the hype of Pinterest but oh boy, now I do.  I've made a few quick and easy recipes from Pinterest and got lots of new ideas for my home. First challenge -- A new laundry closet! To me, laundry is something that is never done.  You think you wash your last load and then you glance at the hamper and boom, there it is -- more laundry. Like many homes, my washer and dryer was down in the basement. … [Read more...]

Making A No-Sew Tulle Skirt Was Easy As 1, 2, 3!

Let me start off by saying I'm not one of those moms who can make costumes, "foo-foo" outfits or even sew well. I know how to sew but I never liked it. I'd rather give whatever needs sewing to my husband and that's that. Yes, he knows how to sew and sews better than me. Who knew?! But I wanted to do something special for my little one's birthday party this coming weekend. She's the baby in the family and we'll be celebrating her 8th birthday at a local roller rink. I wanted her to look … [Read more...]

Happy Valentine’s Day: I’ll Always Be Daddy’s Little Girl

While organizing my closet this past weekend, I came upon a large envelope with pictures, old birthday cards and a few of my high school papers (Yes, I'm a bit of a hoarder! LOL). Being that today is Valentine's Day, I thought it was perfect to post one of my favorite items I found. It was a greeting card from my dad from 1987. I was thirteen years old. Same age as my daughter now. It brought me so much joy and relief to know that I never throw away old greeting cards - EVER! I'll always … [Read more...]

Saying Good-Bye to My Favorite Disney Ornaments — Yes, My Christmas Tree is Still Up!

I know what you're thinking, why is my tree still up? Is she crazy? It's the 12th of January. But guess what? Vera from Lady and The Blog has her tree up too. So there! :) I know Christmas came and went over 18 days ago. Usually I like to keep the tree up til' after Three Kings Day even if we even if we don't officially celebrate it. It's something my mom would do when I was a kid. So I figured six days after Three Kings Day isn't too bad. Right? I'll blame work and being … [Read more...]

Update: Blogging Loop

So I've been out of the blogging loop for a few weeks now. Lots of things have happened since my last post. I'm sure by now everyone has heard about the tragedy that's happened in a Connecticut school where twenty children (and six adults) were shot and killed in a senseless act. I cannot fathom the thought of something bad happening to any of my dear children. God please help those parents who are grieving for their children. On another note, Thanksgiving night, my little one had 103 degree … [Read more...]
