5 Must-Have Herbs for Winter Illness

With cold and flu season officially upon us, many have started stocking the medicine cabinet with various OTC pills in preparation for when illness inevitably strikes – but believe it or not, sometimes the best remedies can be found in our kitchen! Rather than purchasing expensive pills from your local pharmacy, go with herbal remedies – the natural, effective, and cheaper alternative to traditional medicine. I'm sharing Dr. Christopher Hobbs’ 5 must-have herbs to beat winter … [Read more...]

Nueva Vida – A New Hope #SomosFiOS

Disclosure: This post is part of a sponsored campaign with Verizon FiOS (#SomosFiOS). All thoughts and opinions expressed here are 100% my own. Hispanic Heritage Month is now over but that doesn't mean Nueva Vida, a support network for Latinas with cancer and their families will stop now.  They keep on going strong to help people in need. As long as they have Verizon to back them up, they are on their way to inform and empower those who are going through traumatic experiences. They … [Read more...]

Throw Back Thursday: Halloween Edition #tbt #Halloween

Does anyone post #tbt on their blogs nowadays? I haven't noticed any. I usually see them on Instagram but I decided to post it on the ol' blog since I rarely post personal stuff anymore (that will change!). As I was looking thru old photos, I found several photos I took from my mom's house that I had planned to scan onto my computer. Here's what I found: This is me as Wonder Woman. I was in first grade. Wonder Woman was my idol at the time so naturally I thought I was bad! I remember when … [Read more...]

Ramblings: My Weekend in a Nutshell ~ July 4th

Hey everyone! How was your 4th of July? I hope you all had a wonderful 4th! As for me, my weekend was great. I spent it with my lovely family. The best part was that it was low-key and without a schedule. I also cleaned, I cooked many meals and I baked a cake. Which also means I ate a lot -- more than I would like to admit. I did do a few squats here and there but it's nothing like doing the squat challenge - which I've got to start again. I also did the treadmill. I probably burned … [Read more...]

Happy Easter All!

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter since it's been kinda quiet around here lately. I've been under the weather for over a week. I think I developed severe allergies or have a nasty cold that just won't go away. My sinuses have been so congested since last Friday, I can hardly think. It's been rough the last week. I couldn't take another day congested so I headed out to Kmart to buy a humidifier. I'm praying it works because I can't afford to lose anymore sleep! Anyway, I'm off to … [Read more...]

Luna Park’s Halloween Harvest @LunaParkNYC

Luna Park is just another reason why I love Brooklyn.  Yesterday afternoon, my daughter and I headed to Coney Island to take advantage of Luna Park's Halloween Harvest! Luna Park hosted the biggest day of its Halloween Harvest celebration yesterday.  In addition to the festive décor and costumed characters wandering the park, Luna Park welcomed Food Network star Marc Maniac and his team from Maniac Pumpkin Carvers  who created a masterpiece out of a giant pumpkin that had been on display at … [Read more...]

Grana Padano and Lidia Bastianich Teach Healthy Eating with Kids at Eataly

This month my daughter and I had the opportunity to cook some delicious and healthy recipes with Lidia Bastianich and Grana Padano in La Scoula Grande right inside Eataly in New York City. I've been a fan of Lidia's Italy since I was a teenager. My mother-in-law is also a huge fan. My mother-in-law always says, "All Lidia has to do on that show is throw some onion and garlic into a pan and I start to drool!" I enjoy Lidia's recipes because her approach is fresh, rustic, and simple. We … [Read more...]
