Creating Recipes with Flatout Hungry Girl Foldit Flatbreads. #Flatouthot

When I think about creating recipes for my family, I usually wing it. Whatever I have on-hand is usually what I work with. It can't be too complicated or difficult to make and it must be simple and easy so I can feed my family of five quickly. Most of the time, I'd like to have dinner on the table within an hour, so whatever makes my life easier, that's the route I'm taking! When The Motherhood invited me to participate in their Flatout program with Walgreens, I immediately said yes. First of … [Read more...]

Saying Good-Bye to My Favorite Disney Ornaments — Yes, My Christmas Tree is Still Up!

I know what you're thinking, why is my tree still up? Is she crazy? It's the 12th of January. But guess what? Vera from Lady and The Blog has her tree up too. So there! :) I know Christmas came and went over 18 days ago. Usually I like to keep the tree up til' after Three Kings Day even if we even if we don't officially celebrate it. It's something my mom would do when I was a kid. So I figured six days after Three Kings Day isn't too bad. Right? I'll blame work and being … [Read more...]

Last Post of The Year – Goodbye 2012, Hello 2013!

I know this blog has had many crickets these past few months. It's not my fault. I still love to blog.  But it's just that I'm one tired mommy who wants to come home after a hard day's work and just spend time with my family.  And the funny part is that I have about 20 titles ready for my little ol' blog so it's not like I don't have anything to say here -- I have LOTS to say. I just need time. Time is a major factor for me.  I'm sure it's a major factor for everyone but some people know … [Read more...]

A Thousand Years Younger.

Today's my birthday. I'm a thousand years younger - according to my 7 year old. It's actually something she said when I came home last Thursday from getting my hair highlighted, cut and straighten. As soon as I got home, she shouted, "Mommy, you look a thousand years younger"! I thought that was so cute. My kids rarely see me with my hair straighten. Honestly, I rarely get my hair done professionally. The last time I went to a salon was over a year ago. After I get my hair done, I vow … [Read more...]

Update: Blogging Loop

So I've been out of the blogging loop for a few weeks now. Lots of things have happened since my last post. I'm sure by now everyone has heard about the tragedy that's happened in a Connecticut school where twenty children (and six adults) were shot and killed in a senseless act. I cannot fathom the thought of something bad happening to any of my dear children. God please help those parents who are grieving for their children. On another note, Thanksgiving night, my little one had 103 degree … [Read more...]

I am thankful for…..cranberries?? #Tropimommas

Right after Halloween, people all over start planning for the holidays. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I've been planning our menu for weeks now. Even though it's basically the same menu every year, this year is going to be a little different. If you've been a regular reader of New York Chica then you'll remember that a couple of years ago I wrote a post about not including cranberries in our menu because no one in my household eats cranberries, especially in sauce. But this year I decided to … [Read more...]

Today Was An Unexpected “Take Your Daughter To Work Day”

And not by choice! This morning I was shocked to hear my little one had a half day of school. Usually when she has half days, I makes plans with her sitter or my husband. But being that my husband's unit was deployed to help with the disaster that Hurricane Sandy left behind, I was left to my own devices. With him not being home for a whole 18 days has really taken a toll on me. I'm usually on top of things and know when my kids are off or have half days but not recently. "What to do, … [Read more...]
