1. COSTUMES -- In the Movie BRAVE, Merida has a total of 22 different costumes. She has five dresses, a cloak, hand wrap and necklace, as well as torn dresses! King Fergus, Merida's dad, wears nine different simulated garments at the same time! Each has its own movement that must be "simulated" by algorithms in the computer. To achieve the mass of Fergus's kilt, the drape going across his chest has eight layers of cloth folded over and interacting with each other and other garments. The … [Read more...]
Visiting Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco, California #DisneyPixarEvent
When I first received the email inviting me to a press event in San Francisco, I was surprised to know that Walt Disney had a whole museum dedicated to his life, his family and his fantastic career. Visiting the Walt Disney Family Museum was saved for day 3, the last thing on our agenda during the Disney/Pixar Event last month but it was the most memorable. Opened in 2009, the beautiful Walt Disney Family museum sits on the old grounds of a military base in the Presidio of San Francisco … [Read more...]
From New York to San Francisco: Kilts, Archery, Bagpipes & More! #DisneyPixarEvent
Day Two of the Disney/Pixar event was even more magical than the day before. Like I said before, Disney/Pixar had a jam-packed schedule for the bloggers on Day Two and we were ready to take it on! Upon arriving at the Pixar Studios for the second time (lucky us!), we were treated to a wonderful breakfast in the atrium. After our breakfast, we were divided into two groups; Clan Dingwalls and Clan McGuffins. I was in group Clan McGuffin. Check him out below: During this time, we … [Read more...]
Disneynature’s Chimpanzee Film is A Must See! #DisneyPixarEvent
Chimpanzee, Disneynature's 4th movie, opened this past Friday in theaters everywhere and guess what? Chimpanzee made over TEN MILLION DOLLARS in one solid weekend! Incredible! I couldn't believe my eyes. The best part is when you buy a ticket to see the film during the first week (April 20-26), Disneynature will make a donation in your honor to the Jane Goodall Institute to help save Chimpanzees today and tomorrow. Chimpanzee, directed by Alastair Fothergill and Mark Linfield, filmed … [Read more...]
So You Think You Can Bagpipe? #DisneyPixarEvent
This was one of the activities Disney/Pixar had planned for us while touring Pixar Studios. We learned everything there is to know about bagpipes -- from the history, to the music and even the various songs you can play. Since we inhaled so much information in a short amount of time, I thought it would be a good idea to get my Flip Cam out and record it instead. I know the video is long (not too bad - 4-1/2 minutes) but it's well worth it. Enjoy! Disclosure: Disney provided me with an … [Read more...]
DisneyNature’s CHIMPANZEE Downloadable Activity Sheets #DisneyPixarEvent
With DisneyNature's CHIMPANZEE opening up this week, April 20th to be exact, I wanted to share some FREE activity sheets with you all but first, let me tell you a little bit about CHIMPANZEE and Disneynature. CHIMPANZEE is the fourth release for Disneynature, the first new Disney-branded film label from The Walt Disney Studios in more than 60 years. The label was launched in April 2008 to bring the world’s top nature filmmakers together to capture a variety of wildlife subjects and … [Read more...]

By now, I'm sure you have seen previews and posts about Pixar's newest movie, BRAVE. The film takes aim at theaters on June 22, 2012, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters. It's going to be one of the hottest movies this Summer! Merida, who is the curly red-headed, passionate, tough girl who knows what she wants and when she wants it. She lets no one get in her way, not even her parents. But of course, she'll encounter obstacles along the way. You just need to see … [Read more...]
From New York to San Francisco: Pixar Studios, Footage of Brave & La Luna! #DisneyPixarEvent
Last week, I attended the Disney/Pixar Press Event in sunny San Francisco and it still feels like a dream. As I look at all the photos I took, my mind is going a mile a minute from all that we did in just three short days. DAY ONE: Upon my arrival at SFO (San Francisco Airport), I met with other bloggers in a van to head straight to our "home" for the next few days, Hotel Palomar. Once we got to the hotel, I couldn't wait to visit Pixar Studios but thank goodness we had about an hour to … [Read more...]
San Francisco, Here I Come! #DisneyPixarEvent
I don't even know where to begin. I'm so thrilled to be attending a Disney and Pixar event in San Francisco with 24 other bloggers from around the country! I literally screamed when I saw the email in my inbox. My kids were like, "Um, Mom, why are you acting like a kid?" I replied with, "I'm going to San Fransisco!" The looks on their faces were priceless! After that, my girls were asking if they could go. Sadly, they cannot. It's only for bloggers. YES!! lol Shh, don't tell … [Read more...]
