Getting Healthier for 2011 (& A Twitter Party!)

I have a confession -- I make a few New Years resolutions every year without fail and it always consists of losing weight (particularly losing 20 pounds). Always. This year is different.  I did not make not one New Years resolutions. Why? I never follow through.  Typically after a few weeks of dieting and exercising, I usually fall off the wagon and I'm back to my usual habits of eating "whatever" and not working out as planned.  This year I decided to take charge of my well-being … [Read more...]

Brief history on El Dia De Los Reyes (The Three Kings Day): The twelve days of Christmas end with the Feast of Epiphany also called "The Adoration of the Magi" or "The Manifestation of God." Celebrated on January 6, it is known as the day of the Three Kings (or wise men/magi): Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar. Making Over My Fridge With the Help of I Can’t Believe it’s Not Butter

This past November I was given the opportunity to makeover my fridge with the help of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter.  They helped me by providing some useful tools and some very needed information on how to deep clean my fridge and how to store foods. I chose to really deep clean my fridge right before Thanksgiving because my menu was full of delicious meals that would definitely leave leftovers for the weekend so I needed all the room that I can get. With 3 kids, a husband and … [Read more...]

Is It Possible To Have Thanksgiving Without Cranberries?

Photo credit The traditional American Thanksgiving meal usually consists of a huge turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, stuffing & cranberry sauce. Right? In our family, no one likes cranberry sauce so that is one food item we do not eat. One year I did attempt to make green beans and cranberries but no one liked the cranberries so it was a total waste of money.  I think I'll go back to the original way of making green beans which is just by adding salt & pepper. This … [Read more...]

Ramblings: Do You Believe in Ghosts?

With Halloween just around the corner, there's tons of shows and movies on TV about ghosts, goblins and teen slashers.  But to some, ghosts are not only on the big screen. There are also tons of shows about "real" ghosts like Ghost Hunters on SyFy, The Haunted on Animal Planet, Paranormal State on A&E and many more. I was once a skeptic when it came to ghosts until I met my hubby (boyfriend back then). Although I never encountered spirits or ghosts, the stories he told would make my … [Read more...]
