Making Over My Fridge With the Help of I Can’t Believe it’s Not Butter

This past November I was given the opportunity to makeover my fridge with the help of I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter.  They helped me by providing some useful tools and some very needed information on how to deep clean my fridge and how to store foods.

I chose to really deep clean my fridge right before Thanksgiving because my menu was full of delicious meals that would definitely leave leftovers for the weekend so I needed all the room that I can get.

With 3 kids, a husband and 2 pets, I can tell you that our fridge gets neglected a lot.  This time it was surely forgotten.  I had a few bottles of expired salad dressing (yuk!), containers that held leftovers from who knows when and even an orange juice container in the back with the expiration date of September 15th. Believe me, I was grateful for the help of ICBINB crew.

They happily sent me over a huge box filled with a whole bunch of containers to hold all of our leftovers, a pack of labels, coupons for discounted butter products, a box of baking soda to keep my newly cleaned fridge fresh and clean, dishing washing soap, a sponge and a $50 gift card to buy healthy and nutritious foods.

Before I cleaned out my fridge, I made sure to leave the food shopping trip for the following day to make sure I had room for all the thanksgiving food.

Some of the helpful tips that ICBINB crew gave me were:

STEP 1:

  • Turn down the temperature in your fridge. This will prevent the fridge from getting too warm.
  • Remove everything inside, and perform a “freshness audit,” throwing away anything that is expired.

STEP 2:

  • Remove all of the shelves, drawers, and anything else that can be removed.
  • using a clean sponge, wipe down the entire inside of the fridge with clean, soapy water.
  • Use mild dish soap for your suds as opposed to a harsh multi-purpose cleaner.
  • To ensure you’ve rinsed away all the soapy water, wipe everything down with a vinegar/water solution to get your fridge smelling clean. Don’t worry, the vinegar smell is dissipate.

STEP 3:

  • Repeat step 2 for any shelves, drawers, etc. — first with soapy water, then a rinse with the vinegar water before reinserting back in the refrigerator.
  • Add your fresh opened box of baking soda.
  • Turn the temp back to normal cooling setting.

After my fridge was spotless and no longer contained expired foods (it took me a while to get that fridge clean!), I was ready to stack my fridge with healthy foods and some Thanksgiving grub.

I can’t believe it’s not butter also provided me with some low fat and tasty recipes. Here’s one that I tried recently and my whole family loved:

Orange Pound Cake

Ingredients

1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/3 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt
1 Tbsp. orange juice
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup sugar
1 Tbsp. grated orange peel
3/4 cup I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!® soft spread
3 large eggs

Instructions

Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease and flour 8-1/2 x 4-1/2-inch loaf pan;
set aside.

Combine flour, baking powder and salt in medium bowl; set aside. Combine
yogurt, orange juice and vanilla in small bowl; set aside. Combine sugar
with orange peel in large bowl.

Beat I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!® soft spread into sugar and orange
peel mixture with electric mixer on medium-high speed until light and
fluffy, about 2 minutes.

Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Alternately beat in flour mixture and yogurt mixture on low speed just until blended. Spoon batter into prepared pan.

Bake 55 minutes or until lightly browned and toothpick inserted in center
comes out clean. Cool on wire rack 10 minutes. Remove from pan and
cool completely.

Frost, if desired, with Orange Glaze.*

*For Orange Glaze: Combine 1 cup confectioners’ sugar with 1 Tbsp.
orange juice. Adding more orange juice if needed.

I am really glad ICBINB gave me this opportunity to try out their product because it was my first time tasting it and I have to be honest and say it’s a product that will always go in our shopping cart. With 70% less saturated fat than butter, no cholesterol and no hydrogenated oils, it’s the best way to keep your intake calories low and a better and healthier option for the whole family

Thanks I can’t believe it’s not butter!
