Wordless Wednesday – Two Hearts Beat As One (add your linky)

While I was at Stop & Shop yesterday looking for some carrots, I turned around and spotted this thing. I thought what the heck is that? It looks like it's part Pumpkin and part squash. It was so odd looking I quickly thought of Wordless Wednesday. Doesn't it look like a mushroom? :D Happy Wordless Wednesday! If you want to join in on the WW fun (would love it if you do ), please link up your post below. I would love to see your Wordless Wednesday photo! Thank you and have a … [Read more...]

Excuse My Blog While I Get Things Fixed

As you can see, my blog has changed -- just a tad. I decided on buying a new theme because I was told my site was too slow to load and things didn't look so good. So I went ahead and bought the Headway Theme. Why did I choose Headway over Thesis (heard so much about this theme)? I saw that Headway was much easier to tweak and mess around with because of its point, click and drag option with a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) format. I'm not an HTML or CSS expert at all. I know … [Read more...]

A Christmas Carol, $10 Coupon and a Q&A with Jim Carrey

Disney's A Christmas Carol hits stores today across the states, just in time for the holidays.  As most of you already know, A Christmas Carol has been around for many, many years.  The first publication came out on December 19, 1843 by Charles Dickens and since then, there have been lots of remakes of the movie as well as books. Storyline: A Christmas Carol is about a man named Ebenezer Scrooge who is a miserable old man.  He believes that Christmas is a poor excuse for people to miss … [Read more...]

Shout-Out Sunday – 11/14

There’s a new trend here at New York Chica where I give a special Shout-Out to those bloggers who had a great post (at least I think so ) for the week. I wanted to show my readers that there are plenty of great writers/bloggers out in the blogosphere and giving props to fellow bloggers is a great way to give back to the blogging community. Since I started blogging in 2006 (2008 publicly), I’ve met so many good, sincere and accomplished bloggers like Niri and Kim who both have … [Read more...]

Easy Recipe: Flan Cheesecake (Sabroso Saturday)

When the holidays come around, I crave anything that is rich and creamy like cheesecakes and flans.  I came across this recipe while browsing through one of my favorite sites, Pioneer Woman.  She's a great photographer, a mom and her recipe photos are just amazing. She has tons of recipes but for some reason, I always go to her dessert archives first.  As soon as I saw the recipe for a caramel pumpkin gingersnap cheesecake, I told my husband I have the prefect recipe for Thanks giving (this … [Read more...]

Febreze Home Collection Wooden Wick Candles | Review

Imagine this: Sitting by a cozy, warm crackling fire with a nice, warm mug of hot chocolate with lots of marshmallows. How's that for a vision? With that in mind, I can only wish for a fireplace because unfortunately we bought a house without one.  It wasn't a top choice for us but now when we receive our dreadful oil bill, we regret not finding a home with a fireplace. But that's okay.  With the brand new Febreze Home Collection Wooden Wick Candles, I can close my eyes with my mug … [Read more...]

Easy Recipe: Homemade Garlic Gravy (Sabroso Saturday)

Photo Credit: rebouche.blogspot.com Gravy is something I always bought. I never thought it was so easy until I saw Rachael Ray make it on one of her shows.  Ever since then I have never bought gravy again.  It's easy, simple and my whole family loves it.  I make extra all the time. Thanksgiving is around the corner so this recipe is perfect. You can also modify the flavors to your liking.
