Five Travel Destinations for Fall Foliage

Summer can be the perfect time for BBQ’s, picnics, beach vacations and just lounging around in the backyard.  However, since the sun is setting on summer, it’s time to get ready to view the wonderful colors of my second favorite season: fall.  Fall is a season that radiates warm sweaters, knee-high boots, pumpkin spice lattes, and the beautiful colors of the changing leaves. The best part about living in the Hudson Valley is the ever-changing seasons upper New York has to offer.  From the … [Read more...]

Come Celebrate World Ocean’s Day Event at the New York Aquarium #WorldOceansDay

Disclosure: I am a member of the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Zoo Crew. This post is part of a sponsored campaign. I received membership for my participation, but my review and opinions are my own. Hey everyone! We just got back from visiting the New York Aquarium and we are beat! It took us 2-1/2 hours to get to Brooklyn from the Hudson Valley because of a lot of traffic but it was well worth it.  The last time I visited the aquarium was in 1998. Times have change especially after Hurican … [Read more...]

Starting The Autumn Season with Hot Apple Cider K-Cup® Portion Packs

Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn! Today is the first day of Autumn.  It's a pretty warm day in New York with scattered showers over the state but its finally starting to feel like Fall, one of my favorite seasons. The best part about living in the Hudson Valley is that we have lots of Apple Orchards to choose from.  My family and I love to go Apple Picking.  It's one of the many activities we enjoy doing as a family.  We can pick our own apples, taste some freshly squeezed apple cider and … [Read more...]

Monday Memories: Apple Picking at DuBois Farms in Highland, NY

Earlier today I was looking through my picture files and I can not believe it's been two years since the last time we went apple picking. I love picking fresh fruit and smelling the fresh air through the orchards. I need to make a mental note and plan our next apple picking outing. Check out a few photos I took at Dubois Farms in 2008. It's a wonderful place where you can pick your own fruit from apples, pears, grapes, peaches and pumpkins, drink apple cider and eat delicious apple cider … [Read more...]

A Stroll Over The Hudson River

(click the photo to enlarge) When I think of the Hudson River, I think about tours that pass by the Statue of Liberty, helicopters flying over to see the many sights that New York City has to offer and of course, the ferries that go to Staten Island and New Jersey.  What I don’t think about is walking across the Hudson River on a bridge – but not for long.  My kids and I felt adventurous one Saturday so we planned on doing something different and explore something we’ve never done before.   … [Read more...]

My Day At The Hudson Valley Garlic Festival

Today I took my girls to the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival in Saugerties, New York. It was a beautiful day to walk around in the fresh air that was infused by garlic everywhere. I don't know about you but I am in love with garlic. I add garlic to almost every meal. If you know me and have had the chance to be THISCLOSE to me ;), chances are I probably smell like a garlic clove, which is ok by me.  Garlic is good stuff.  It's good for the body (lowers your cholesterol, regulates your blood … [Read more...]

Wordless Wednesday – Fall Colors & A Castle

Bannerman Castle is in the middle of the Hudson River in Glenham, NY. Everytime I'm on the Metro-North going to New York City, I love to just stare at this magnificent castle.  One day I hope to visit. So far, this is one of my favorite Fall pictures I've taken this year. … [Read more...]
