PBS Kids is one channel I don't mind my daughter watching at any given day. What's not to love about shows that teaches kids how to spell, learn new words and see some bad guys get justice. WordGirl is a new animated series that follows the every day life and superhero adventures of "WordGirl" along with her monkey sidekick Captain Huggy Face, as she fights crime, quirky villains and enriches vocabulary usage, all in a day's work. The best part of WordGirl is that she is well-mannered 5th … [Read more...]

PBS Kids – Super Why & Martha Speaks – DVD Reviews
PBS Kids is a very popular channel with my four year old daughter. It's the one channel she is constantly watching. Yes, I know watching more than 2 hours of television is bad for a kid her age but if it's PBS, who cares, right? She's learning, having fun and singing along. A lot of the times I find myself watching it along with her, especially the Super Why episodes. Never heard of Super Why? Well, it's an animated series designed to help kids ages 3 to 6 gain the critical skills that they … [Read more...]
The Penguins of Madagascar Operation: DVD Premiere – Review
Madagascar has always been a huge hit at our house. It was actually my 4 year old's first film to see at the movies. Even though she was only about 6 months old, she enjoyed it. She didn't whine or cry so I knew she had a good time. When Madagascar 2 came out, we all went to see it as well. It's an animated movie that is fun for all ages. There's even some jokes that young kids won't get, which is fine by me. ;) So when we heard that the penguins will have their own show on … [Read more...]
Martha Stewart: The Blog Show That Almost Wasn’t.
I heard about Martha Stewart hosting a special show just for bloggers back in December on Twitter. I immediately signed up for tickets hoping to see Martha Stewart for the first time and of course to meet other bloggers as well. I was ecstatic when I received confirmation from the people at the Martha Stewart show to tell me that I was invited. I couldn’t wait!Although I’m not a huge Martha Stewart fan, I do love her products and her style. I also enjoy watching her special holiday … [Read more...]
I Heart Jonas
This past weekend, my daughter and her friends were just hanging out in her room just playing and talking until I showed them the brand new I Heart Jonas on DVD. They quickly changed their minds about just talking and wanted to watch the Jonas on the big screen. I had popcorn and soda all ready for them and they were in heaven. You see, the girls are big Jonas fans and I could understand why. The boys are pretty cute and sweet too. I know if I was their age, I would have a crush on them but … [Read more...]
The Boys Are Back | Movie Review
I received The Boys Are Back on DVD a few weeks ago but it wasn't until last night that I was able to finally view it. If you haven't seen the movie when it came out in theaters, don't fret - It comes out on DVD today so you can rent it or better yet buy the DVD because it was a great movie. In my opinion, if a movie makes you cry or even make your eyes water just a bit, then it did its job. The Boys Are Back was inspired by a true story and directed by Scott Hicks. Joe Warr, played by … [Read more...]
Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie: Extended Edition
My daughter and I recently had the opportunity to see Disney's Wizard's of Waverly Place: The Movie, Extended Edition on DVD this past weekend. It wasn't the first time she saw the movie but she was glued to the TV like it was the first time. The DVD is not out until tomorrow so my daughter was highly excited that she was one of the first few to check out the extended version of her favorite show. We love Wizards of Waverly Place on the Disney channel because we love witches, spells and … [Read more...]
Disney’s Handy Manny Motorcycle Adventure
When the Disney Channel first aired Handy Manny, my kids and I were curious to see what it was all about. I don't often speak Spanish around them which I know isn't good for them but I grew up in a household where English was the number one language. I guess I got used to it. Handy Manny is a bi-lingual show about a Hispanic handyman and his animated, talking tools. The show teaches young children the beginnings of Spanish and the importance of cultural diversity. Learning Spanish while … [Read more...]
