Word Up with WordGirl: Earth Day Girl! – Review

PBS Kids is one channel I don’t mind my daughter watching at any given day.  What’s not to love about shows that teaches kids how to spell, learn new words and see some bad guys get justice. WordGirl is a new animated series that follows the every day life and superhero adventures of “WordGirl” along with her monkey sidekick Captain Huggy Face, as she fights crime, quirky villains and enriches vocabulary usage, all in a day’s work.

The best part of WordGirl is that she is well-mannered 5th grader (just like my 11 y/o daughter) with a secret identity (not like my 11 y/o daughter) that even her family and friends don’t know about.  She saves the world and she has a normal life. How’s that for a mystery?

In this new DVD, WordGirl: Earth Day Girl, you get eight episodes, which includes, Birthday Girl in WordGirl, Chuck the Evil Sandwich-Making Guy in You Can’t Crush City Hall, Dr. Two-Brains in Two Brain Highway, The Butcher in Jerky Jerk, Tobey in Tobey or Consequences, Mr. Big in Mr. Big, Granny May in Coupon Madness (My Favorite!) and Lady Redundant Woman in Lady Redundant Woman.

You’ll also get a few special features, such as interactive games, video shorts and some coloring pages.

If you’ve got a child that loves PBS Kids and catching villains, I’m sure they will enjoy this DVD.
