I wanted to write a huge post about my Dad (I called him Papi) and post photos of our happy times but I won't. It's a sad day for my family and I so I decided to write something short and sweet. My Dad would have been 57 years old today. He died when he was just 42 years old. He was indeed very young but I guess God had other plans for him. He's been in Heaven for 15 years. It doesn't feel like he's been gone for a long time but when I look at the numbers, I'm shocked. I'm shocked … [Read more...]
We Remember, 8 Years Later | 9-11-01
I can still remember the day it happened. It feels like it happened yesterday. Although I was sleeping during this horrible tragedy, I was awoken by my husband who called to tell me to watch the news. I asked him, "What channel?" He then said, "Any channel". I said, "Why do you want me to watch the news"? He said, "You'll see...I'll stay on the phone when you watch what's going on." … [Read more...]
One More Day Til’ Freedom!!
OK, I know that sounds kind of horrible but I'm really excited about tomorrow. It's the first day of school. Finally!!! It has been a long boring Summer and I'm glad the kids are able to get on schedule with bedtime (they have been sleeping late), homework and everything else that is school-related starting tomorrow. Don't get me wrong, I love and adore my children but since I'm a SAHM, I have to find MANY ways to keep them busy and at times it becomes tiring (especially since I … [Read more...]
Mom Of A Teenager
My son is 13 years old today. I can't believe this. It's official. I'm a mom of a teenager! I know I'm not that old but I sure do feel old. I was 21 when I had him. I can still remember the day I found out I was pregnant. I bought a pregnancy test at a pharmacy store on Central Ave. in Yonkers, NY. My boyfriend (my husband now) and I decided to eat lunch at Nathan's not far away. After we ate, I told him that I wanted to take the test. He wanted me to wait until we got home. … [Read more...]
The Day That Came Too Early.
August 18, 1994 That is the date my father passed away. 15 years ago. I still can't believe he's gone. No one knew it was coming; it was a very sad surprise. He died exactly one week after we came back from Orlando, Florida. A vacation he planned for a couple of years for my sister and I. After his sudden death, the whole family was stunned. We couldn't help but wonder why he died so suddenly. It turned out after his autopsy, he had diabetes. No one knew. He probably didn't know … [Read more...]
I’m A Mean Mom!
Yup! That's what my kids think (& say behind their breath) by they way they huff and puff when I tell them to do chores and stuff around the house. You wanna know what I make them do? Here's the list (and it's not every.single.day!): I make them brush their teeth. Take showers everyday (if I'm lucky!) They MUST clean their own rooms. My son (12 yrs.) has trash duty everyday! My daughter (10 yrs.) clears the table every nite (if I'm lucky!). The older two takes care of the … [Read more...]
Win the “Quince” of Your Dreams!
When I was a little girl, I have always dreamed of having a "Sweet 16" party. It's an age where a young girl becomes a young woman. But in Latin America & the Caribbean, it's called "Quinceañera", a Sweet 15. It's the same concept as the Sweet 16. Unfortunately, I didn't have the "Sweet 16" that I dreamed of but I have great news for you! Do you know someone who dreams of having the Quinceañera of their dreams? One lucky teen will win a $45,000 Quinceañera party from Verizon … [Read more...]
Wordless Wednesday – Making New Friends
My 4 year old always seems to make friends where ever she goes. She is so opposite of her mother. I tend to chat with the person for awhile and see if we have anything in common and then I'll make a decision whether or not I want to be friends with that person. But not my daughter. Check out the friends she met this past weekend while at Old Navy. I hope you enjoyed my Wordless Wednesday. My kids and I had a great laugh with these photos, especially when we were in the … [Read more...]
French Toast & Pepperidge Farm.
Today I made French Toast with the help of Pepperridge Farm Cinnamon Swirl Bread. It is absolutely amazing! We are all addicted to this bread because it's so delicious! You can eat it plain or make French Toast like I did. If you love French Toast like we do, then you have to try this recipe. It's so much better then plain ol' bread and it's so simple to make. (I didn't measure anything but this is what I did) Ingredients ~The Star - Pepperidge Farm Cinnamon Bread. ~3 … [Read more...]
Wordless Wednesday – Hudson River | Bowdoin Park
A few days ago, I took the kids out to the park to have a picnic. It wasn't a sunny day but it was a beautiful day. It wasn't hot, humid or sticky. The day was nice and cool; just the way I like it. … [Read more...]
