Visiting Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco, California #DisneyPixarEvent

When I first received the email inviting me to a press event in San Francisco, I was surprised to know that Walt Disney had a whole museum dedicated to his life, his family and his fantastic career.

Visiting the Walt Disney Family Museum was saved for day 3, the last thing on our agenda during the Disney/Pixar Event last month but it was the most memorable.

Opened in 2009, the beautiful Walt Disney Family museum sits on the old grounds of a military base in the Presidio of San Francisco overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge.  It’s a perfect spot for a museum.

Once inside, you are greeted into a great room full of Walt Disney’s family portraits, awards and even some of his actual furniture he shared with his family in his Disneyland apartment.

But unfortunately, the picture-taking stopped in the first floor so all I can do from here on is share what the Walt Disney Museum provided us with — which isn’t bad photos at all.

After we toured the first floor, we took an elevator to the second floor which included music, hit shows, memorabilia and lots more from Walt Disney’s busy life.

On the second floor, the museum is divided into galleries — from one to ten.  One being the very beginning for Walt Disney.

There’s a wall of photos from Hollywood, which is Gallery Two : The Move to Hollywood.

There’s a section called  Feature Films which I loved.  It brought back some of my childhood memories.

My favorite gallery of all was Gallery 9.  It included a model of Disneyland and a wall full of antique televisions showing old shows and clips of movies.

You really have to visit the museum yourself to really appreciate the beauty of Walt Disney’s Family Museum. Words alone cannot express what I experienced.  You can feel the magic in the air. You can feel the dedication from Walt Disney and why he wanted to build a wonderland for all to love.

I hope I can visit again with my family. They would truly enjoy this museum as much as I did.  THANK YOU WALT DISNEY!
