Creating Recipes with Flatout Hungry Girl Foldit Flatbreads. #Flatouthot

When I think about creating recipes for my family, I usually wing it. Whatever I have on-hand is usually what I work with. It can’t be too complicated or difficult to make and it must be simple and easy so I can feed my family of five quickly. Most of the time, I’d like to have dinner on the table within an hour, so whatever makes my life easier, that’s the route I’m taking!

When The Motherhood invited me to participate in their Flatout program with Walgreens, I immediately said yes. First of all, I love the people behind The Motherhood. I’ve worked with them before and they are all very sweet. Second of all, I love Walgreens. It’s right up the road from where I live and I really love their weekly sales. I’m there every week buying what I need for my family. Last but not least, I love food. Whether it’s hot or cold — I love it! I’m definitely a foodie!

My kids are on different levels when it comes to food. My son will try almost anything and loves his veggies. He’s not much of a fruit eater, he’d rather drink orange juice to get his daily vitamin C. My girls, on the other hand, are very picky eaters. The only vegetable my 13 year old will eat is corn. My seven year old wants nothing to do with any vegetable. She doesn’t care if it’s red, yellow or green — if it’s a vegetable, she won’t go near it. And let me tell you, I’ve tried to give her whatever I make but nothing works. She likes what she likes.  Who knows, maybe I should just wait and hope her palette becomes sophisticated when she gets a little older. Until then, I’ll continue to present veggies to her until she gives in…….hopefully.

Before heading out to Walgreens, I decided to browse thru the website to try and get ideas for my Hot and Cold recipes. The all new Flatout Hungry Girl Foldit Flatbreads come in 3 delicious flavors: 100% Whole Wheat with Flaxseed, Rosemary and Olive Oil and Traditional White.  After checking out the flavors, I thought about making pizza with the Rosemary and Olive Oil flavor. Everyone in my family just loves pizza so I thought why not?

Walgreens

If you’re new to Walgreens, it’s very easy to spot the new Flatout Hungry Girl Foldit Flatbreads. You should be able to find the flatbreads in the bread aisle. My local Walgreens were out of the 100% Whole Wheat with Flaxseed so I opted for a package of Rosemary and Olive Oil and the original Flatout Multi-Grain Flatbread with Flax to make my hot and cold recipes. Both are 100 calories, with 6 or more grams of protein and a great source of fiber as well.

Making the pizza with Foldit Flatbread was super easy! Just check out the photos below: Hungry girl Flatout Foldit Flatbread

All you need is a few tablespoons of pizza sauce, some garlic powder, a dash of oregano, a mixture of Italian cheeses and a few slices of pepperoni. You can find these items in most Walgreens stores. Place it in a pre-heated 450 degree toaster oven and bake it for 5-8 minutes. My girls loved it — You can tell by the look of my little one’s face.

Next, I made the cold sandwich with the Whole Wheat Flatbread with Flax. Since I was too busy enjoying the pizza, I forgot to take photos on the step by step directions but this one is pretty easy and simple also.

I took a little mayo and spread it on half the bread then I added a few slices of mild cheddar cheese then placed 5 slices of smoked ham and topped it with iceberg lettuce and cut it in half.

Delicious!
