Ramblings: Christmas is Less Than A Week Away!

Christmas Cookies

Where has the time gone?

I started a full-time job on October 24th and things have gone so fast for me.  Christmas is less than a week away and I’m still not done with shopping. I actually started last week on Amazon.com and bought a few things for my kids but I still would like to get some little things here and there, you know like stocking stuffers.

This year, I’m taking it easy.  I’m really just focusing on my kids.  And to be honest, that’s the way it should be once you have children of your own.  Some people get too crazed with gift giving and forget about the holiday itself.  It’s not all about the biggest and most expensive gift, it’s about the love and time you cherish with your family.  And if that makes me cheap, than I wear that title proudly. 😉

Today, I took a drive with my oldest and youngest (my middle child stood home sick with daddy) to visit my grandmother.  It was a pot luck dinner with some of her children and some grandchildren.  My cousin was also visiting from medical school so we were catching up.  I had so much fun with my family today.  We ate some good food, we talked, we laughed and even witnessed my mom and her sister bicker about something so silly (that’s what sisters do! lol).

All in all, it was a fabulous six-hour get-together. I can’t wait to do it again!

So if you’re wondering why I haven’t been blogging as much, and it’s definitely not because I don’t’ want to because I certainly do, it’s because I’m focusing on family and my job.

It’s not easy trying to find that right balance to work a full-time job and blog but I’m hopeful. If you work full-time and blog, PLEASE share your secret! 🙂

So, how was your Sunday? Did you spend it with family?

PS. I know I owe my readers the annoucement of the Champion SHAPE winner and the giveaway for a Keurig brewer. I’m really hoping I can do those this week so please bear with me ;).

Here’s to a great week!

  1. If there is a secret…someone needs to tell me. Because I’ve been working and maintaining a blog and going to school and I’m pooped!

Some weeks, months, will be better than others. Once the pressure of the holidays is over, it should be easier.

  2. Hey Lisa – it’s hard working, being a mom, wifey and blogger. I use whatever spare minutes I can find to blog. When my boys are doing homework, I will sit at the table with them and blog. When they go to bed is another good time.

We miss ya chica, but family comes first 🙂

  4. I feel your pain Lisa but blogging is a passion of yours so you’ll always find a way! My Sunday was great. Took the kids to MSG for the Knicks Scrimmage then baked cookies in the pm. 🙂

I know Christmas is over, but I felt the same way regarding shopping and gifts. It was all about my kids this Christmas. I did get a few other gifts, but not at all like I usually do. I kept reminding myself to enjoy the season (which I truly do) and to remember my 2 yr old baby boy, would never be 2 again, so I tried to enjoy every little giggle and laugh, as he looked at the all the decorations and pretty Christmas lights.
I’m going to work on starting a blog too and I know it’s going to make me even busier than I am, but I’m excited to give it a try.
