SHOUT-OUT SUNDAY

A new trend has started here at New York Chica and I hope everyone enjoys the blogs I choose every week.

The reason for this new trend is because  I wanted to give a special shout out to those bloggers (friends & beyond) that have had great reads during the past week. There are PLENTY of great bloggers out there so if you want to be featured here, please contact me at:  Lisa [at] newyorkchica [dot] com.

I will try my best to get these out by Sunday night each week.

I hope you enjoy their sites as much as I do.

1. This mom definitely needs a “Mom Day”.

2. I’ve been wondering this for a long time now! lol

3. See what company is trying to save trees.

4. Check out this Latina’s best distraction for her kids.

5. NEVER as dull moment at her site.

6. She lives in the most amazing place with beautiful pictures from the area.

7. I really need to get some pointers on how to do this. It’s the next big thing in blogging.

Woo Hoo! Hells Kitchen: Season 6 Is Only A Day Away! 1

Posted on July 20, 2009 by Lisa

chefgordon

I don’t care what anybody says, Chef Gordon Ramsey is one of the best chefs out there!  I LOVE Chef Gordon Ramsey. He loves his kitchens to be spotless, his food to be perfect and his chefs to be the best!

He’s a tell-it-like-it-is kind-of person and I love that.  Yes, he screams at the top of his lungs when he doesn’t like a dish that you should be an expert on  and yes, he makes people feel like crap…

BUT,

if you don’t have to cook for him, he can be the sweetest guy you could ever meet (from what I’ve read ;) ).

Just in case you never seen Hell’s Kitchen or never heard about Chef Gordon Ramsey, check out this video from the very first season below:

And below is sneak peak from tomorrow’s episode:

So there you have it!! You either love him or hate him. As for my family and I, we LOVE him and we can’t wait!!

Oh man!! Season 6 is going to be GOOD!

Hell’s Kitchen premieres Tuesday, July 21 at 8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT on FOX.

Thursday Thirteen – My Addictions! 1

Posted on May 07, 2009 by Lisa
  1. Wii Fit - Just doing the body test is addicting enough.  It tells you if you loss or gained any weight since the last test.  It’s great! I also love the working out part too.
  2. Water – I have never been into water like I am now.  I’ve stop buying soda because I hated the way I was feeling plus, I want/need to lose weight and soda is just empty calories.
  3. True Lemon/Lime – It makes drinking water a complete pleasure.  It tastes so good that you think you’re drinking lemonade or limeade.
  4. Yoga Mat – It makes running in place (Wii Fit does that) so much easier.  It’s easier on my knees and feet too.
  5. Fruit – My new found friend is the Blackberry and no, I’m not talking about the phone. I’m talking about the juicy fruit.  I’ve never had a Blackberry until the 1800Flowers Mom Event.  I’m hooked on them now. They are so sweet and yummy.  If you’ve never had them, you should go out and buy them.  They’re high in fiber & antioxidants too.
  6. NYC - Even though I lived in the Bronx all my life up until 8 years ago, I now have this fascination to visit the city every chance I get.  I guess you can say I took advantage of the city when I was living only 20 minutes away.  Now that I live an hour away, I miss it and think about it often.
  7. Flowers – I love the smell of flowers especially lilacs.  Thank goodness I have a lilac tree because I’m always smelling them.
  8. Eating Healthy – Since I started the Wii Fit, I haven’t been eating any fried foods (although I love fried foods).  I’m also limiting my portions.  I want to get in shape and feel good.  I’m tired of feeling sluggish and tired all the time.
  9. Twitter – I love Twitter.  I didn’t think I could get addicted to Twitter because I didn’t know what that was, but my friend Jai introduced me to Twitter so I blame her for my new addiction.   Thanks Jai!
  10. Coupons – I have been Mrs. Coupon Queen in my family for a couple of years now.  I have to buy a few newspapers every Sunday to get as much coupons as I possibly can. I love getting things at a unrealistic price and sometimes for free! Yes, it’s possible.
  11. Blog Reading – There are so many great blogs out there, I wish I had more hours in the day to read them all.  Here are some of my favorites: Mami’s Time Out, NYCityMama, Pioneer Woman Cooks, Isolated Existence, Blasian Baby Notes, Latina on a Mission, Veep Veep, StyleMom, Hissip and so much more.  I could go on and on.
  12. Harry Potter – I can see all of the movies hundreds of times and never get tired of any of them. I can’t wait for the new one to come out, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.  I’ve been waiting over a year for that one.
  13. TV – I love to end the day of chaotic-ness ( I have 3 active children) with watching TV with the family, especially those nites when it’s just hubby and I.  Those are the greatest.

Do you have any addictions you’d like to share with me?
