Verizon FiOS: Triple Play, Triple Happy…..And Now With Apps! #MC

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a Test Drive campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Verizon FiOS and received a free trial of the products and services necessary to facilitate my review.

Since June of this year, my family and I have been happy campers since I made the switch to Verizon FiOS Triple Play from Time Warner and I have to be honest and say we are loving the change.  We have nothing but great service, great TV shows/movies and lightening fast internet speed.

And when I say lightening fast internet speed, I can now download a 5 minute video onto YouTube in less than five minutes. With Time Warner Cable, it would have taken me over two hours!

That’s just insane!

MY FiOS App

Before I go on and explain FiOS’s newest app for Android and iPhone,  I wanted to take some time to thank Mom Central and their team for allowing me to try Verizon FiOS for the six-month test drive.  It has been THE best six months ever! There’s so many reasons why we love FiOS and will stay with FiOS for a long time to come.

If you missed my first post about installation and our experience, you can click anywhere on this link.  The second post was about my top ten favorite features about FIOS that we love and that list can literally go and on.

And no, I’m not exaggerating. If you’re unhappy with your cable and internet provider, you will not be disappointed with Verizon FiOS.

And now for the apps.

If you’re an Android user and have Verizon FiOS, there’s a free app for you to download.  It’s called MY FiOS.  It’s like having the DVR manager and the remote in the palm of your hand at all times.  You can literally be on the train or at a doctor’s appointment and schedule a recording right from your phone!

How cool AND convenient is that?

Here’s what you can do with the app

The My FiOS App, for Android, puts all your favorite Verizon services and FiOS entertainment choices right at your fingertips – letting you get more done in less time.

Verizon continues breaking the barrier between “home” and “away” with the new My FiOS App letting you access everything you care about everywhere you go. Put your favorite content in the palm of your hand with the following features:

  • Schedule your FiOS DVR to record from TV listings or search– Access your DVR to record shows when not at home, so you never miss a moment of the programming you love.
  • Watch TV shows and movies – Whether its FiOS On Demand or one of the 25 live streaming channels available through the My FiOS App, you can watch what you love on the go.
  • Verizon FiOS mobile remote – Don’t fight over the remote in your home again, use your smart phone as a FiOS TV remote so you always have the control in the palm of your hand.
  • My Verizon home account – Access your Verizon home phone, Internet and TV service account to view and pay your bill, view recent payments and more.
  • Verizon Home Control – Monitor fixtures and devices in your connected home by controlling compatible cameras, lights, locks, thermostats and more.

MY FiOS App for iOS: COMING SOON!

Additionally, later this year FiOS will be releasing their brand new My FiOS App (iOS) for Apple products that combines both of these apps as well as many additional features. Apart from the Mobile Remote and the DVR Manager the My FiOS App will include the following features:

  • Watch TV shows and movies – Whether its FiOS On Demand or one of the 25 live streaming channels available through the My FiOS App, you can watch what you love on the go.
  • My Verizon home account – Access your Verizon home phone, Internet and TV service account to view and pay your bill, view recent payments and more.
  • Verizon Home Control – Monitor fixtures and devices in your connected home by controlling compatible cameras, lights, locks, thermostats and more.

As of right now, I have the Verizon FiOS Mobile Remote and the DVR Manager app installed on my iPod Touch and I love it!  I can record a show or a whole series, see what’s recording and even change the channel.  The apps can do a whole lot more but those are what matters to me the most.

New to FiOS? Check to see if it’s available in your area.

  1. I’vwe heard good things about Fios. Those apps sound really cool. I’m currently with Cablevision and I’m wondering if they have apps as well.

  2. Thanks for this review. I’ve been contemplating a change from Timewarner and wasn’t sure if Verizon would be better. Your posts cinched it! I think I’m making the switch. Thanks Lisa!

    • My hubby and I hated Time Warner. Between their higher prices, their blackouts on tv channels and non-working dvr, it was about time we made the change. It’s been 6 months of bliss 😉

  3. Lisa, thanks for this review and for explaining how things work! I ‘ve had problems with Fios and this helps!
