This Mama Definitely NEEDS A Smartphone!

Verizon and JuiceBoxJungle sponsored me to write this post, and they asked me to talk about the ways a smart phone would affect my life as a parent and make it better.

For the past year, I’ve been debating whether or not I should get a smartphone.  With the iPhone out, I can honestly say that I am envious of all the AT&T subscribers but ONLY because they have an iPhone – not because of the service.  In my area, AT&T is terrible.  I’ve heard from many people that they either have their calls dropped or they can’t get a decent signal to make a phone call.

Verizon is my choice of wireless provider. I was a Sprint customer for ten years and I’m so glad I made the change.  The service and the reception was terrible. Wherever I went, I couldn’t get a decent signal.  Verizon on the other hand, is FANTASTIC!!  The monthly plans and fees to terminate are outrageous (way too expensive compared to AT&T and T-Mobile) but it’s worth it in my opinion.

I also have to state that I have the worse case of “Mommy Brain” EVER so having a smartphone would definitely mean no more mommy brain.

What is Mommmy Brain, you ask?

Well, mommy brain is simply just that. You’re a mom that is so consumed with all this “mommy stuff” that your brain doesn’t have time to process it all and you tend to forget A LOT!  My 28 year old sister can tell you that I always have mommy brain. I can’t help it. If I don’t write things down on a piece of paper or have a small notebook, I would even forget to buy milk or send in the mortgage (that one hurts because of the late fees).

All that could change if I only had a smartphone. Now there are plenty of smartphones to choose from but my top two choices would be the Palm Pre Plus or the Motorola Droid.

The Palm Pre Plus has one of my most favorite feature – the ability to stop writing on sticky notes! I love that!  All the information that I need stays in one place and doesn’t need resticking, unlike sticky notes.  Brilliant!

My most favorite feature on the Motorola Droid are the apps that you can download. Finally, an iphone without being an iphone plus better service.  So right now it’s a toss up between the two. They both require a $29.99 or more data package so that is someting to take into consideration.  Verizon’s plans are on the expensive side but you get what you pay for, right? In the end, I may have to “test” them both out.

Which one do you think I should get? The Palm Pre Plus or the Motorola Droid?

Comments

  1. My husband calls it momesia! I love verizon and am definitely not switching.

  2. Santa brought me a Blackberry for Christmas and I have to say it has made many of the things you just mentioned so much easier! I love the calendar, the note pad, the task list…they keep everything together in one spot, no more double booking appointments or losing my to-do lists.

  3. I can’t wait to get an upgrade. I need something that is social media easy. lol

  4. My wireless service is with AT&T because I can’t bear to part with my iPhone, but my broadband service is with Verizon and I love it. I have no complaints. I wish they offered service for the iPhone too.

  5. If you have to get one now, what about the Eris? I liked that one way better than the Droid. (Fiddled with them both a lot at the Verizon store.)

I am getting the Nexus One this spring…and have been waiting beyond patiently for Verizon to get the iPhone, which I would rather have…and need for my businesses.

Hellooooo, Verizon…make nice nice with the folks at Apple, OK?

I am sticking with Verizon because I live in the boonies and appreciate the great service…but, thank you for the Nexus. I am looking forward to it.

    Good luck, Lisa!
