EA Naughty or Nice Event in NYC

providenceA couple of weeks ago, my four year old and I had the pleasure of attending the EA Naughty or Nice event in New York City.  The EA team was there showcasing new games from all their labels; EA Sports, EA Games and EA Play.  It was held at a swanky club called The Providence Nightclub in the West Side on 57th St.  This was my first time in the club so I was amazed.  In every corner, I saw “toy” bags filled with fake gifts that were labeled Naughty or Nice to represent the games that were on displayed on all three levels.

Each level represented the type of games they had there.  The main and upper level were called the Nice area because it held all of the family games.  The lower level, which was called the Naughty area, held all of the mature, violent and bloody games.  Since I had my four year old with me, we stood in the main and upper levels, just in case.  I didn’t want her frightened or scarred for life. 😉

Both levels also had awesome lighting, all in blue and great seating with large, comfy chairs.  Plus, we all had a chance to eat some really good food, in case we got hungry after playing games which I did.

1014091702Let me just say this, there were plenty of games that I saw that we were able to played with that I can’t even mention here because they are still “in progress”.  I had to sign a disclosure so my lips are sealed ;).  It was truly a great experience to be there.

While at the main level, my daughter was really excited to see the Littlest Pet Shop and Friends Online (available now online & for the Wii and DS) station ready for her to play and have some fun.  She was lucky, there were no other kids waiting to play so she was first. Since she wasn’t too sure on how to play, they showed her a couple of things and she was fine after that.  She quickly got the hang of it.

The EA marketing team is so nice and very personable.   They really know how to make people feel right at home.  My daughter and I got along so well with everyone there.   The best part of the whole event was that I was allowed to bring my daughter.   Not many places allow children so this was very special to us.  She was very lucky because she got a lot of attention from EVERYONE.

hasbro family niteAfter watching her play the Littlest Pet Shop, I decided to try out the Hasbro Family Game Night for the Wii.  I can’t wait to try this at home because it contains all the hit games you played with when you were a kid.  Like Operation, Connect 4 and Jenga.  Playing it on the Wii was so much fun.  I love to play the “real” Jenga so to actually play it on screen and not pick up any blocks was great.  I’m sure my kids would really enjoy this game.

After awhile, my daughter and I headed upstairs to view some more cool games.  I’m telling you, this place was amazing.  I would love to come back with a group of friends and just hang out.  It had a great vibe and had a nice ambiance to the place.

OK, back to the games.

charm girlsThe first game we saw was the Charm Girls Club online & on the Wii, which is called Pajama Party (available now).  It’s a fun game for girls of all ages.  My daughter loved this game. She was playing, jumping, dancing. This game really gets a girl moving to the beat.

simsanimalsafricaNext game that we spotted was SimsAnimals Africa.  I’m not really a Sims player but this is one game I can’t wait to buy.  It’s fun for the whole family and you get to interact with the animals and get to know their likes and dislikes.  The one thing that surprised me was that you can get two animals to mate (believe, this part is super harmless).  They kiss and hug each other and poof, a baby is born.  I thought that concept was really clever and  my 4 year old really seemed to like it too.  I really enjoyed this game.  I think I played this one for 40 minutes.

needforspeedNitroNext game I passed by was the Need for Speed NITRO game (available now).  As soon as I saw it,  I had to play it. I’ve always been a racing car game lover, even when I was a child.  Sometimes my husband calls me a speed demon when I drive, but not too often.   The game was awesome.  The music pumps you up and the fact that if you’re in the lead, the area is decorated like your vehicle.  I think every girl or guy that enjoys racing games will definitely enjoy this one.

The last game I tried out was the EA Sports Active More Workouts for the Wiieamoreworkouts (one of my favorites).  This is an extension for the EA Sports Active Personal Trainer.   I attended another EA event earlier in the year to support my fellow bloggers with the 30 day challenge so I was very eager to try this one out.  I have the EA Sports Active Personal Trainer and the Wii Fit at home and they’re both a great workout.  Although I didn’t get to finish the 30 day challenge because of health issues, I still use it from time to time. I can’t’ wait to get this.  The newly improved Active More for the Wii has 35 new exercises plus instead of the 30 day challenge, you have the option of choosing the 6-week challenge for all you fitness gurus.  The exercise’s intensity increases as time goes by, which we all need once we hit that plateau.   More workouts will be available on November 17, 2009.

Below are some games I didn’t get to play with (had to leave early; 4 yr. old was tired) but knew they were there from the list I receive:
