If you don’t like it, say something!

Have you ever bought something because of a life changing decision (like losing weight) or just to try it out because you had a coupon or maybe even just because?

Well, that happened to me.  After going to the EA Sports Active event in NYC, I decided to make some changes to my diet and also add a workout regimen to tone up for the Summer.

So I went and bought Hellmann’s “light” Mayonnaise, among other things like fruits and veggies.  As soon as I opened up the jar, I could tell by the consistency that I wasn’t going to like it.

I gave it a try anyway; you can’t judge a book by its cover, right?

Anyway, I made a turkey, lettuce and mayo sandwich and it looked delicious!! I have to be honest but the first bite was awful! The taste of the low fat mayo was truly (sorry Hellmann’s) disgusting.  I LOVE the original Hellmann’s “Real” Mayonnaise and I really thought I was going to like it because of their reputation.

Boy, was I wrong!

I had to scrape it off but when that didn’t work, I had to throw away the slice of bread and grab another one.  After that ordeal, my sandwich didn’t taste as good.

As soon as I was going to throw it away, I thought, I should call the 800 number on the label and tell them about my experience.

So I did just that.  I explained what happened and the reason why I decided to buy it (to limit my calories to lose weight) and the lady was extremely nice and understandable.  She asked me a few questions, like what was the number on the UPC symbol and the date on the label.  She then said that she was going to send me some coupons and a coupon for a free jar of Hellmann’s “Real” Mayonnaise.  I was both shocked and happy that I was going to get some coupons.  She also said that she was very sorry that I had to go through that and hoped that it doesn’t happen again.

Yea, I hope so too!

A few days later, I received the coupons for other items including a coupon for a free jar and went out to buy the real thing.  I was happy that I called and that I didn’t just “throw” away money!

So, next time you buy a product and you find that you don’t like it, call the number on the package and I’m sure they’ll either send you a replacement, send you a coupon or maybe a check to refund you the money!

Never feel as though you’re stuck with anything! I know I don’t! =)

Happy Shopping!
