Tully's Hawaiian Blend K-Cups

Have you heard the news? Coffee consumption is on the rise! Woo-hoo! Statistics show that about 8 in 10 Americans (83%) are coffee drinkers, up from 78% in 2012.

Can I say I am not surprised? Coffee is good for the mind, body and soul.

Being both a K-Cup Ambassador and a lover of coffee, knowing about those statistics is just music to my ears. I’ve owned a Keurig Brewing machine since 2009 and I don’t think I will ever use anything else. Right now, I have my eye on the new Keurig Vue. I’m hoping to either buy one or better yet, review one for the blog. We shall see.

Another cool fact is that more Americans are switching up their brewing habits. From 2010 to 2012, the amount of coffee drinkers using a single-brewing system has gone up 9%. With more than 200 options for coffee, tea and other beverages it’s easy to see why most people (86%) have heard of the Keurig Brewing System, while ownership has grown from 10% to 12% from the last year!

Go Keurig!

As part of the K-Cup Ambassadorship, Green Mountain Coffee sent over their latest ambassadorship package from Tully’s – their Hawaiian Blend K-cup portion packs for review.

As soon as I saw the coconut mugs, a single Hawaiian hibiscus and the hula skirt, I was beyond excited to taste it. Immediately, without a doubt, I grabbed a k-cup and brewed it on the largest setting. It was delicious!

Tully’s Hawaiian Blend leans more on the strong side being that it’s an extra bold k-cup so if your taste buds can’t tolerate strong coffee, I suggest you brew it on the largest setting as I did.

With the Hawaiian Blend, you can definitely taste the sweet notes in the background within the first sip. It’s a strong cup of coffee but unlike other bold flavors, the Hawaiian Blend is nicely balanced and smooth with 10% Hawaiian coffee.

While drinking my first cup, I did manage to take myself to the tropics and imagined myself on the sand soaking up some rays and watching the palm trees sway in the wind.

Now that’s THE life. Too bad I drank the whole cup in a flash and soon after, the moment was gone. But you know what? There’s more sweet moments in my future with the full box of 12-K-cups that Green Mountain Coffee sent over so on to the next cup!

About Tully’s:

Some professionals need to approach their jobs slowly and with a great deal of care. Like tightrope walkers. Or brain surgeons. Or tattoo artists. At Tully’s®, the same holds true for creating great coffee. It takes a lot of time and patience, which is why we slow roast our coffee beans to gently coax out the complex flavors and aromas. With roots in the Pacific Northwest, where coffee is a way of life, we take our time in roasting and in training each master roaster in our artisanal approach. From the aroma to the full-bodied flavor, you can taste the time taken in every satisfying cup of Tully’s. Now we invite you to take your time discovering it.

This coffee is one of my favorite K-cups, and I usually prefer darker roasts. It’s delicious! Do you happen to know the caffeine content of this particular K-cup? I can’t seem to find the information anywhere. Thanks!

    • Thanks for stopping by!!

I still have a few Coconut Island k-cups and I savor each cup. I didn’t find the exact amount of caffeine in the Coconut Island k-cups but I found some information on the Keurig website. Here’s what I found:

Coffee contains between 75 and 150 mg. of caffeine per 8 oz. cup, depending on the roasting strength and other factors. It is difficult to measure the nutritional content of coffee, because it varies depending on many things. Generally, the darker the coffee is roasted, the less caffeine it contains.
