Last night, I told the kids we were going to have lasagna for dinner.  Since my kids love pasta, they were ecstatic about dinner, that is until I told them we were going to try a frozen lasagna.  They weren’t too happy about my decision but they understood why.

I always tell them that mommy’s a blogger and as a blogger I get opportunities to review products and food.  For me, it’s fun to be able to taste-test new foods because I can let my readers know what my family and I enjoy eating.

For them, it’s a hit-or-miss because it’s like I have to force them to try new things every so often. But thankfully, they’re not like that all the time.

From the look of the picture from the box, I had a doubt I would like it.  Just the thought of eating bland, ricotta cheese made me think twice about reviewing the lasagna. After 19 minutes in the microwave, I let it sit on the counter for about 6 minutes.  It smelled great and looked very nice.  The cheese melted nicely, the noodles were a little crisp on the edges, just the way we like it and it was the perfect size for the kids and I (husband is currently deployed).

I cut the lasagna into 6 pieces.  Like I said before, I was a bit hesitant to try it but as I ate my first bite, I was quite impressed.  The pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauce had a homemade flavor with a bit of spice to it and what made it complete were the three meats (seasoned beef, sausage & pepperoni).

I usually add 4 meats to my lasgana – beef, pork, veal and sausage but thanks to Marie Callender’s, I will now add a 5th meat, pepperoni!  😉

This wasn’t the first time that we tried frozen lasagna.
