What is all the fuss about Twilight?

Everywhere I go, I see Twilight.  Twilight over here, Twilight over there.  Twilight is EVERYWHERE.

After I heard from several people that they loved the movie Twilight, I couldn’t help but wonder what the fuss was all about.

I saw the previews on TV and thought, ok, it’s not Interview with a Vampire but it still seemed like a pretty good movie.

Now that I think about it, maybe I should have read the book first.

Oh well, maybe that can be my Summer read. Anyway, after it came out on DVD, I told hubby we have to watch it. So my husband, my kids and I sat on the sofa excitedly to watch Twilight. In the beginning, I was really into it.  I loved how they had the vampires look so pale and mischievous.  I enjoyed the suspense too.

Throughout the movie, I thought it should have had more action.  I’m more of an action type movie watcher.  If the movie has alot of action, I stay awake.  If not, then I fall asleep.  I can’t help it.

Toward the end of the movie, I started to fall asleep. To be honest, I was getting kind of bored.

After I noticed I was falling asleep, I forced myself to stay awake.  I made it to the end of the movie and said, that’s it? I was waiting for the “Ohhhhh and the Ahhhhhh” part of the movie.  I didn’t get that at all.  Maybe it was because I was expecting more from the movie because one of my cousins has seen the movie 5 times.  I can’t understand why a person would see a movie 5 times within a few weeks apart.  Maybe she’s crazy. LOL. (just kidding Kris)

Overall, it was an ok movie for me.  I enjoyed it.  It was nice to have family movie night with the kids.  I think the best thing about this movie was that it was definitely kid-friendly.  With 3 kids under 12, that is one of things I look for in a movie.  I love movies that the whole family can watch and not worry about any sex scenes.

So, what did you think about the movie?  Did it exceed your expectations?  If so, please leave me a comment.

  1. I’ve read the book before I got to see the movie so I kind of expected so much. The movie somehow disappointed me at some point. But it was fine. There were scenes in the movie that were really bigger in my own imagination when I was reading the book but when I saw the movie, I was like, “huh?”
Anyway, I hope the next installment will have a bigger budget and better direction. I’m hooked on it mainly because of Edward and the Cullen family. I think they should give Bella some backbone next time.

  2. Read the books. Honestly, there is so much that people don’t understand unless they have. And to be honest, there were parts where I literally laughed out loud because the movie just couldn’t pull off what was written in the book. I’ve seen Twilight over and over and loved it, but I have said many times that if people haven’t read the books, they will look at it and say, “What on earth?” I think it would be very difficult to put on screen what Stephenie Meyer put on paper.

  3. Thanks for the comments. I think I will get the book b/c now my 10 yr. old daughter wants to read the book. I guess we’ll take turns. =)

  4. The books are way better than the movie. I was disappointed by the movie. The first book though didn’t have as much action as the second. 🙂

  5. I haven’t read the books or seen the movie. I love the vampire genre so I hope I like the movie. I’ll tell you my opinion after I see it. I agree with Rochelle, the next movie should have bigger budget and that will make a difference. 🙂
