Why?

(venting here)

Why can’t they make movies that are suitable for children AND their parents anymore?  I’m not talking about those G rated movies either.  My husband and I decided to watch a movie with our 9 and 12 year old last night and we settled for a PG-13 movie.  We thought by the reviews, (sex was never stated in the review) there would not be any type of sex in the movie.  Well, in the first 15 minutes of the movie, they talked about sex and did sexual things where I had to have them cover their eyes.  What is up with that?  I know we can watch G rated movies but we’re weren’t in the mood for “kiddie” movies, ya know.

I really think they should reconsider the ratings on those movies too.  Even if my kids were 13, I wouldn’t let them watch them.  I may sound like a prude but maybe that’s why kids are so “sex crazy” nowadays.  They think it’s a normal thing to “do it” and it’s not.  They have a lot of time to do the nasty.  Now it’s their time to concentrate on school, their work and their future.  Ok, now I sound like I’m living in La-La land but you get the picture..

I just want to know whatever happened to the innocence in children?  Everything is sex this, sex that and sex EVERYWHERE.  My goodness!

Ahhh, I feel better now.. 🙂  So what’s your vent?

  1. I know how you feel. I always believe that kids should be kids and should not be exposed yet to too much malice like sex. There is a time for them to know about sex and if there is a way for them to enjoy life without this knowledge yet, then so be it.

Here at home, I always make sure that the movies we watch do not have sex scenes or any insinuation of sex. We have 2 kids here and I just don’t want them to be exposed yet.

Good for you to let your kids be kids! 🙂

  2. I think you are SOOOO right. I feel the same way. And I don’t like the way they are rating movies anymore, either. I have noticed that they now have warnings for “thematic elements” (which usually insinuates religion) or smoking (oh how EVIL!). But they can fornicate like dogs and that’s a-OK. lol, sheesh!

  3. It’s nice to see a parent who cares! There’s been times where I’ve gone to see a Rated R movie and “parents” have small children there, I’m talking as young as 6.
