America’s Top 10 Recession-Proof Cities

When I first saw this list, I knew New York wouldn’t be near number ten but I was curious to know what cities made “the list”.   After looking at the top 10 list,  this New York girl just might have to relocate if times get too rough.  If we do decide to move to Raleigh, we won’t be alone because my husband has some family in Raleigh, N.C.  The only negative part of the whole idea is that when we went to Raleigh for Easter break, I didn’t feel like it could be “home”, you know?

Maybe it’s just me or that I’m just accustomed to living in New York.  Here’s some F.Y.I. for all of you:  I was born in New york, raised in New York and I still live in New York.   Hence the name, New York Chica, lol.  I never even left the country, except when we were on the Disney cruise and we stopped in the Bahamas for one day.

Below you can see the Top Ten places that are not feeling the recession like the rest of us.

10- Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas
 9- Charlotte, N.C.
 8- Seattle, Wash.
 7- Houston, Texas
 6- Salt Lake City, Utah
 5- Raleigh, N.C.
 4- San Jose, Calif.
 3- Austin, Texas
 2- San Antonio, Texas
 1- Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

So, where do you live?  Are you lucky enough to live in one of these cities?
If so, leave me a comment and let me know where you live (city and state).

  1. I’m from the Grand Rapids, MI area and can say is things in Michigan have been going down hill for quite sometime. We are #1 for unemployment, housing market is in the dumps and taxes are out of control. In other words… you don’t want to head our way.

  2. I live in Dallas, Texas and the recession is killing us here!!!Foreclosures, unemployment, businesses closing, gas prices going through the ceiling, grocery prices more than we can afford. But I suppose it is all relative!!
