This small video can save ALOT of lives!

I almost burned my grandparents house down when I was about 11 years old.

Here’s the story:

My sister and I were hungry so I decided to peel and cut some potatoes to make some French fries for us.  After I did that, I took some oil, placed it in a pot and turned on the gas.  While it was heating up, I decided to go to my grandparent’s room to see what my grandfather was watching on his tv. He was watching wrestling so I decided to watch the show with him.  So, while we were watching the show, I remembered I had the oil on the stove.  So I ran to the kitchen and noticed the oil was hot so I thought it was ready for the potatoes.  As soon as I put them in the oil, I saw the oil bubbling over the pot then the flames went up.  It happened in a matter of seconds.

As soon as we (my sister and I) saw the fire in the pot, I threw water towards the pot because I thought it would die down.  That was NOT the case.  What happened next looked like a small bomb and as we were running out of the kitchen, we could feel the heat of the fire on our backs and we ran to our grandparent’s room.  Thank God my grandfather knew what to do and he put out the fire.  My grandmother was so scared, upset and relieved that we were ok.  There was a bit of a mess and the kitchen curtains were burned but at least the fire was out and we were safe and ok.  After that ordeal, my grandmother said we were NEVER allowed to make anything on the stove top.  She didn’t have to tell me twice. I wasn’t going to anyway……….LOL

So, do you have a story like mine?  If so, let me know! I would love to hear about it!

I hope you enjoyed my story =)

Thanks for video and sharing your story. I’m going to show it to my kids. They don’t touch the stove even though they are at the age they could. Still it is never too late to learn about things like these.
