Yesterday I went to CVS to get a few things. I was ready with my coupons and my updated email coupon so I can save $4 off of $20 purchase or more. I bought:
2- packs of CVS brand baby wipes – 2/$5.00
2- tubes of Orajel toddler toothpaste – $3.99 (Buy 1, Get 1 Free)
2-packs of Pull-ups – $8.99 ea. (17.98)
1-J & J Shea butter baby wash – $2.99
2- Essence of Beauty gift bags – $1.49 ea. ($2.98)
1-Essence of Beauty Satin Compact refill – $1.99
1-24Ct. Excedrin Migraine – $1.99
Coupons used:
$1 for Orajel
$4 for Pull-ups (2Q’s)
$2 for Excedrin
$4 CVS coupon
$8.97 ECB’s from Lypsyl – Total Q’s: $19.97
Now, the reason why I’m disappointed is because I had to pay $17.27 with my debit card. I know I saved almost $20 with coupons but that is the most I have spent at CVS so far. I was shocked. After all the coupons and $8.97 ECB’s used, I still had to pay almost $20. OK, I know for most, that is not a lot of money but when you’re used to spending less then $5 each time, that is ALOT.. I did manage to get back $18 in ECB’s. I received $10 for spending $25 of participating baby products, $5 for buying any 3 Essence of Beauty products, $1 for buying Excedrin and $2 rewards on my Winter spending. Not too bad.
So, in reality, I did get everything for “free”. Why should I be complaining, right? In the end, I made $0.73.
So, do you clip coupons and save at CVS or at another store? If so, I’d love to hear about it!
Until the next CVS visit…………………..
What I usually do is break that into 2 separate transactions and use the ECBs from the 1st transaction on the 2nd transaction so there is less out of pocket expense.
I would do that but I always have bad luck with so many people behind me. I HATE when that happens.. That’s why I usually just do it in one transaction. Let’s see, I’ll do that next time and hopefully I won’t care how many people are behind me =)
Thanks.
I do get uncomfortable if there’s a long line also. I usually will leave the line and come back or I don’t get all the items first and go and get the rest of the items after the first transaction.
I do coupons at bjs. It’s the only place I really shop. I never have more than 10 though but even if I did have more, I wouldn’t let line bother me because there are always so much people there with tons of coupons…
