Where is………….

MySQL on WordPress.com?  I’ve been trying to import my entries from my other blog at http://nychica.Wordpress.com/ and I can’t seem to find it.  I called Godaddy.com where I get my hosting from and they were no help, which was odd because they are ALWAYS a big help.

I originally transferred all my blog entries from Blogspot to WordPress because Blogcast can only receive imported entries from WordPress, Typepad, Serendipity (RSS), Serendipity DB and Generic RSS Import. If I only knew about WordPress, I wouldn’t have had a blog at Blogspot because Wordpress is so easy, has fun layouts and cool backgrounds.  Although, the move from Blogspot to WordPress was fairly easy; all I had to do was type in my user name and my password and press one button.  WordPress took care of transferring all of my published entries, comments and my drafts.  Dang, I WISH importing my entries from WordPress were that easy….That’s some wishful thinking right there.

Anyway, here is what Blogcast requests:

**Server/hostname – I guess it’s nychica.Wordpress.com, right?
**Database – have no idea – I typed WordPress or WordPress.com
**Username – did that
**Password – did that
**Table Prefix – wp_, right?

When I type in the necessary information, here is what I get:

***An error occurred while attempting to connect to your database. Please ensure all parameters are correct and try again in a few moments. (Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts)

What is MySQL in WordPress.com???? I need HELP! Please someone help me!

Thanks in advance

  1. Hi there, first you need to export your old entries from your old wordpress.com blog. Login to your wordpress.com Dashboard, goto Manage then goto Export. There will be a button to download your data and it will be saved in your computer as an .xml file.

To import it to your self hosted wordpress blog. Login to your blog go to Dashboard, then Manage and then Import. You will then have to select from a list. Choose WordPress then import the xml file your exported from your WordPress.com blog.

I’m not making any promises but to make sure always make backups of everything.
