According to the Daily News in NYC,

You can be a Urban Park Ranger!!

Here’s one city job that may have you riding a horse, piloting a boat, driving a car or just doing a lot of walking.

Urban Park Rangers do all that and more as they patrol the parks, enforce park rules, provide crowd control and guide field trips.

You never know where the job will take you. Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe worked as an urban park ranger during his early career with the department.

The city is accepting applications until April 22. People interested in the job need to have at least 60 college credits, or other law enforcement or environmental experience.

In addition to education and experience, applicants must meet certain requirements for special patrolman status: be a U.S. citizen, at least 21 years old, have no convictions for serious offenses and be a resident of New York City.

Starting pay is $30,378 a year.

Here’s a partial list of duties for Urban Park Rangers as per the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) notice of exam: standing at a post for long periods of time, picking up and moving barricades and light towers, confiscating and removing equipment such as vendors’ carts, performing animal rescues, lifting canoes, and administering CPR.

In other words, be prepared for almost anything.
