I know I’ve wanted to lose weight since the birth of my last child – three years ago but I love food way too much to even try. I know, it sounds weird but the thing is, it hasn’t been a struggle for me because I haven’t even tried to lose the weight. Having young kids also makes it hard to not eat whatever the kids are eating and eat something that is healthy instead, like carrots, fruits or some nuts. I know I should have willpower and I shouldn’t even buy those foods, such as chips, cookies and/or ice cream, but I do anyway. The kids love it and I don’t want to deprive them. I want to lose about 15-20 pounds.
I read somewhere that if a person works out and eat the right foods; they can lose 20 pounds in 3 months. Wow, that’s it? Sounds easy, uh? I wish it were that easy. I tried to lose weight before having my last baby and it took a long time to lose 10 pounds so imagine 20 pounds……………
BUT, when I was watching my favorite show of all time; the Rachael Ray show, Celebrity nutritionist Christine Avanti was there to show two women the mistakes they were making when they were trying to lose weight and it seemed pretty easy.
She told them the tricks to use to lose weight are:
• You need to eat four meals a day — one every four hours — to train your metabolism and to keep it at a high rate.
• Keep your daily caloric intake at an even level. After a day of indulging, the tendency for most people is to drastically reduce the amount of food they normally eat. “The metabolism is very confused – you have fat storage with the big day, and then you’re slowing down your metabolism with the small food day.”
• Be aware of the fat content of your food because size can be deceiving — even a small bowl of nuts can have up to 30 grams of fat. The daily intake of fat for women should be only be about 40 grams, or 10 grams per meal.
• You should be getting a nice balanced meal of one part protein, two part carbs. Be wary of many dairy products, which actually have twice as much fat as protein per ounce.
It sounds pretty simple. I think I can do this. I just need some willpower, motivation and strength. If and when I start seeing results, I’ll be sure to post it here.
So, have you been trying to lose weight but can’t “shake” the fat off? Let me know. I’d love to hear about it!
