Easy Recipe: Sausage Stuffing (Sabroso Saturday)

I've been thinking about what to write for my Sabroso Saturday post all week long. Since I like to post easy recipes that anyone can do, I decided on the sausage stuffing that's equally delicious and very easy to make. This year will be my 7th year making it. My family and I can't wait to eat it. When it comes to stuffing, I don't really like too much going on in the stuffing like apples, oysters or even mushrooms (blah!). I'm not too fond of boxed stuffing either -- it's way too salty. So … [Read more...]

Easy Recipe: Flan Cheesecake (Sabroso Saturday)

When the holidays come around, I crave anything that is rich and creamy like cheesecakes and flans.  I came across this recipe while browsing through one of my favorite sites, Pioneer Woman.  She's a great photographer, a mom and her recipe photos are just amazing. She has tons of recipes but for some reason, I always go to her dessert archives first.  As soon as I saw the recipe for a caramel pumpkin gingersnap cheesecake, I told my husband I have the prefect recipe for Thanks giving (this … [Read more...]

Shout-Out Sunday – 11/7

There’s a new trend here at New York Chica where I give a special Shout-Out to those bloggers who had a great post (at least I think so ) for the week. I wanted to show my readers that there are plenty of great writers/bloggers out in the blogosphere and giving props to fellow bloggers is a great way to give back to the blogging community. Since I started blogging in 2006 (2008 publicly), I’ve met so many good, sincere and accomplished bloggers like Niri and Kim who both have taught … [Read more...]

Easy Recipe: Homemade Garlic Gravy (Sabroso Saturday)

Photo Credit: rebouche.blogspot.com Gravy is something I always bought. Thanksgiving is around the corner so this recipe is perfect. You can also modify the flavors to your liking. Tools Needed Whisk Measuring spoon (tablespoon) Pot or pan (you're not afraid to scratch - I use … [Read more...]

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

This has to be one of the best Thanksgivings ever for my family and I.  There were no recipe mishaps (had many of those), every dish was made with love and was not rushed (had many of those too) and for the first time my husband helped me with almost every dish we made. Plus, no drama. That in itself, is the best thing in the world. I'm truly blessed. At first I thought we were going to be stressed out because we had so many dishes planned but once I wrote everything out on a piece of … [Read more...]

What’s on your menu?

Just thinking about the menu for tomorrow's feast already has me comatose and sleepy.  I am also very excited at the same time.  This will be my first Thanksgiving cooking EVERYTHING. MYSELF.  I may get some help from my husband so I can't take ALL the credit.  I'll have him make the mashed potatoes and whatever else comes to mind. Right now, I have the Pumpkin Pie in the oven.  It smells so good in here.  I can't wait!  I was going to make it from scratch but I'm planning to make Caramel … [Read more...]
