Motivational Monday: How To Get Over The Hurt

If you’re a regular reader of New York Chica (thank you!!!), you know that I never post about politics or any religious beliefs but after going to church this past Sunday and hearing the Pastor talk about how to get over hurt feelings, I felt like I needed to share it on my blog.


When someone hurts your feeling, it’s natural for the first thing to feel is revenge.  I get it. You were hurt by someone and now you want them to feel the same.  I’ve been there way too many times. But guess what? It doesn’t solve anything.  In fact, it can get worse.  And you don’t want things to get worse, you want things to get better, right?  I know I do!

So here are a few things I learned about getting over the hurt.

1. Reject the way of the world

a. Be a blessing to all people
b. Let God handle revenge
c. Win the battle by doing good

2. Respond in love & forgiveness

a. Turn the other cheek
b. Give more than we are required
c. Go the extra mile

3. Remember Jesus’ example

a. Jesus suffered
b. Don’t be abusive when we are abused
c. Speak only blessings not curses
d. Trust the father for results

If you really go about these examples in life, I’m sure you will feel better about yourself and eventaully feel better about the way someone made you feel.  Getting hurt is no fun….believe me. It sucks but it doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world.
