After a stressful, busy week at work, I like to unwind on the weekends and go out for breakfast with my family. We don’t do it too often but when we do, we make it a big deal. Most of the time we are frugal and eat breakfast at home but once in the blue moon, we like to splurge on eating out at a diner or a restaurant. A huge bonus for me is that I don’t have to worry about the mess afterwards.
The folks over at Ihop contacted me about their new Sweet Cream Belgian Waffles. I’ve seen the commercials plenty of times before and every time I see it, I crave waffles so this couldn’t have come at a better time.
Ihop Sweet Cream Belgian Waffles are available in three varieties:
·Berries & Cream Belgian Waffle – A traditional thick and crispy Belgian waffle topped with vanilla cream, whole blueberries, sliced glazed strawberries and finished with powdered sugar.
·Cherries & Cream Belgian Waffle – A traditional thick and crispy Belgian waffle topped with vanilla cream, sweet black cherries, drizzled with dark chocolate sauce and finished with powdered sugar.
·Bananas & Cream Belgian Waffle – A traditional thick and crispy Belgian waffle topped with vanilla cream, sliced bananas, honey-roasted pecans and finished with powdered sugar.
I opted for the Bananas and Cream Belgian Waffles. The Belgian Waffles were hot & crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside. The sweet, vanilla cream had the perfect amount of sweetness to compliment the bananas and honey-roasted pecans. I don’t usually eat waffles with bananas but the combination of all the ingredients were perfect. A sprinkle of powdered sugar was just the right finish. I enjoyed the Bananas and Cream Belgian Waffles so much, I’m planning to buy a Belgian Waffle Maker so I can replicate the recipe at home.
If you visit IHOP for breakfast (or for any meal) and love Belgian waffles, try the Sweet Cream Belgian Waffles. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
IHOP’s Sweet Cream Topped Waffles will be available in restaurants for a limited time. They can be ordered as a separate menu item, or as a half waffle with one of IHOP’s famous 2 egg any style made to order combo breakfasts, all served with hash browns:
