We definitely live in a world where everyone is in a hurry and every thing seems to be happening fast. And while living a fast-paced lifestyle, there are many unhealthy options when it comes to foods, such as fast food joints. The few healthy places to eat are limited and quite expensive.
At Starbucks, they don’t want to discourage a speedy lifestyle but help make it a more enjoyable experience with their brand new line of Bistro Boxes. They are healthy, delicious and did I mention they are all less than 10 bucks each?
With 8 options to choose from, there’s something for everyone. From Chipotle Chicken wraps to Tuna Salad to a basic all-protein meal and more!
This past weekend, after searching high and low for the popular Bistro Boxes, I finally found them.
I opted to purchase the Protein Bistro Box and the Chiptole Chicken Wraps Bistro Box.
Let’s start off with the Protein Bistro Box.
With the Protein Bistro Box, you are presented with a cage-free perfectly hard-boiled egg, two thick slices of white cheddar cheese, a smooth honey peanut butter spread, a tasty multi-grain muesli bread along with two fruits, apple slices and red seedless grapes. In my opinion, this was a perfect meal with less than 400 calories.

The way I ate the meal may make you chuckle. I smeared the peanut butter onto the apple slices, I sliced the muesli bread in half and added the cheese slices (to make a mini-sandwich) and lastly, I sliced the egg right down the middle for my daughter and I to enjoy except I dashed a little salt and pepper onto mine before devouring it (salt & pepper packets are included with the meal). Perfection in a flash!
My 6-year-old loved sharing this meal with me. I’m thinking it was because of the hard-boiled egg and the fruit. We shared the entire meal equally and that left me with more than enough room to try my next meal, The Chipotle Chicken Wraps.
The Chipotle Chicken Wraps Bistro Box comes with 3 whole-wheat tortillas nicely folded, white meat chicken slices on a bed of romaine lettuce, several slices of pepper jack cheese, a lime-cilantro slaw, a nice and chunky tomato-avocado salsa and for dessert, some dark chocolate.

My daughter refused to try the Chipotle Chicken with me after I told her it was spicy. With Chipotle and pepper-jack cheese, I figured it would be too much for her.
With the Chipotle Chicken Wrap Bistro Box, you have to assemble the ingredients to your liking, which was fun for me. The way I put the ingredients together was first I added a piece of romaine lettuce, then I added the salsa (I love how fresh the salsa looked and tasted – especially the chunky avocado pieces) onto the tortilla, then I added the two cheese slices, after that I added the chicken right on top, closed it up and gobbled it all up! It was scrumptious! So flavorful and fresh. This was fast food done right!
I’m not much of a coleslaw-kind-of-person but I wanted to try it as part of the review. I noticed the cabbage was crisp and refreshing. I didn’t noticed a strong lime and cilantro taste — I was kinda looking forward to that since I love both lime and cilantro but if you love cole slaw, this will not disappoint. It wasn’t my favorite part of the meal but it wasn’t too bad either.
Would I buy Bistro Boxes again?
Sure! The next time I visit Starbucks, it will be to purchase the Chicken and Hummus Bistro Box and the Salumi & Cheese Bistro Box. It’s perfect for on-the-go and basically for anytime of the day.
Thanks to Mom Central for this opportunity for finally trying out the new Starbucks Bistro Box. It was a delicious and a very fun review!
