Nueva Vida – A New Hope #SomosFiOS

Disclosure: This post is part of a sponsored campaign with Verizon FiOS (#SomosFiOS). All thoughts and opinions expressed here are 100% my own.

Hispanic Heritage Month is now over but that doesn’t mean Nueva Vida, a support network for Latinas with cancer and their families will stop now.  They keep on going strong to help people in need.

As long as they have Verizon to back them up, they are on their way to inform and empower those who are going through traumatic experiences. They deliver high-quality health services that include screening, diagnosis and treatment. They also facilitate the emotional support people need, want and deserve.

With their Verizon Wireless cell phones, they provide access to bilingual specialists in mental health that can give them the emotional support they need. But above all Nueva Vida is proud to be a source of hope and to continue their fight supporting the Latino community, thus embodying the spirit of #CreaFuturo.

They are giving hope to the Latin community and they want all of us to get inspired by their story.  Check them out:

My story.

My dear grandfather, who I loved with all my heart, died from oral cancer. He chewed tobacco for many, many years. That’s what Merchant Marines did out on the sea when they couldn’t smoke cigarettes. He was a huge fighter. He fought long and hard but cancer won. I believe his death could’ve been prevented if only the dentist who found the lump, did more for him then just shrug it off. Because of cancer, my grandfather is no longer with us anymore but I’m grateful to have many memories that will last a lifetime.

Don’t let doctors shrug your health off – do something about it.  If you feel awkward about something, go check it out! It’s better to be safe than sorry.
