Dave & Busters + New Victory Theater = Loads of Fun!

Last weekend my little one and I were invited by Mama Drama NY for a fun-filled afternoon at Dave & Busters followed by a 7 pm show at New Victory Theater to see URBAN. During our time at Dave & Busters, we were treated to a class on how to juggle where we juggled pieces of colorful fabric. You may think, Oh, fabric must be easy to juggle than the usual balls — but I assure you, those fabrics have a mind of their own. 🙂 It was fun for all of us and afterwards we were all hungry.

Great news for all you Dave & Busters fans, Dave & Busters are revamping their menu so if you’re a regular visitor, you’ll noticed some new and improved changes to the menu. We ate miniature pizzas, chicken, shrimp and steak skewers, chicken tenders, mac’ and cheese and lots more. We were stuffed! All I wanted to do was relax but my little one had other plans. Dave & Busters provided all the bloggers with a play card so the kids can try out some games. Within 20 minutes, the play card was down to 0. I was so happy because at that point I wanted to get out of there and get on with the show.

I said it before and I’ll say it again, I LOVE Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Needless to say, I was really looking forward to seeing Circolombia URBAN after seeing a preview video on Youtube.

ABOUT CIRCOLOMBIA URBAN:

A true narrative of the street, URBAN features the soundtrack of young people in motion, determined to tell the story of their upbringing. Emotion permeates and pulsates with every lush string and heavy bass line as the performers of URBAN unleash tremendously profound energy and expression with their every movement. This immersive journey through streets of brash percussion and far-off tribal beats, and to avenues full of the sounds and the atmosphere of Carnival. These artists are telling the world what it is like in their reality, through their eyes, through their ears, and through their voices. URBAN is a Hip-Opera for the modern era.

Check it out below:

URBAN is like no other show you’ve ever seen before. It’s filled with Latin/Hip-Hop music along with live-singing all while doing outrageously street-style acrobatics. I was amazed at the rope balancing and the aerial pyramid. The best part of the show were the stories behind each act. During a few of the acts, videos from life in Cali, Colombia were playing in the background. It showed us how life is in the country. It can definitely put things into perspective with our own lives. We all need to be grateful for what we have and just be happy.

Unfortunately, if you missed seeing URBAN, then you’ll have to follow their next venture. They were at the New Victory Theater for only two weeks but the theater introduces brand new shows all the time. It’s an awesome theater, great for families, very affordable and right in the heart of Times Square.

About New Victory Theater:
The New Victory Theater—a place where storytellers reign alongside daredevils, puppets, rock stars, break dancers and—most of all—kids. Since The New Victory Theater opened its doors in 1995, it has become a cultural rite of passage for the youngest of New Yorkers. For many of the almost 2 million people who have passed through our doors, The New Victory marks their very first theatrical experience.

All New Victory venues are located on the north side of 42nd Street, between 7th and 8th Avenues.
